I need to learn Chinese

Why bother? (upgrading a Chinese music app I had on my phone to a newer version)

Besides the 500 or more songs I have liked on the service.. that wasn't enough to jump from Spotify and Pandora One. QQ and Xiami let me download songs and are both free to use.

Both are pretty good at queuing up songs I want to hear and automagically play song I already have on the phone from whatever source. QQ also supposedly supports DTS.. which I'd thought was a spurious claim since it is running on Android and the version of my DTS capable amp doesn't support bluetooth it only has optical/coax for an input.

There's a new update that again mentions DTS support so I was like push the shiny red button! I'm like OK but there's no way to get the app to play through my AMP.. its like that's fine, you'll get better quality using earphones, headphones and an AMP. So I updated but it wiped out my logged in status.. and for some reason doesn't show me a seina weibo (Chinese equivalent to Twitter) option to log in.

I can't remember my WeChat info either. Screwed I spent a while registering to qq music which somehow still only has a Chinese web page. First benefit is almost automatic interoperability between the mobile and desktop apps which allows one to control the music from the PC using a phone. Very nice. But the whole thing does also raise at least the question of the future of mobile music.

If the app supports DTS and there are some really nice high fidelity headphones and the old RCA stereo mini plug is going the way of the dodo.. is it time to buy a new phone, AMP, and headphones that have lightning or USB C? There are several nice 299-399 phones like the ZTE Axon, One Plus 3, Moto Z Force, and several others. At least the music does sound a bit better with DTS support on.
