Tomorrow is the International Day To End Violence Against Sex Workers.
This is a really important day for me.
Sex workers, especially queer and racial ices sex workers, are disproportionately shunned, face violence, isolation, and incarceration.
Maggie’s Toronto is a nonprofit that provides outreach, harm reduction, and advocacy for sex workers in all forms of sex work. They have sex worker parenting drop ins, workshops and information sessions on rights and legal help for sex workers, and they provide education and harm reduction kits. They also set up barrier free Covid and MPOX vaccine clinics in strip clubs!
As a spicy dancer and naked content creator, Maggie’s is my favourite charity. The nonprofit was started in the 80s by some sex workers and is still alive and well today - and I’m proud to say that I’m on the board of directors for the organization.
Tonight, Maggie’s is holding a vigil for all of our fallen siblings in sex work, followed by a party.
I’m so thrilled I get to be a part of an organization that does such important work. I’m new to the charity, but I’m bursting with ideas on how to help.
