@alexislust The line comes from Cowboy Bebop, a show that thematically revolves around learning to accept your past traumas rather than running from them. In my interpretation, by confronting your past you learn and evolve into a more complete person but it comes with a weight. For me, I've lost a lot of loved ones. When I was young my cousin/ best friend died of cancer. More recently, his brother, my other cousin/ best friend died of covid. My grandfather recently passed away. Then about a week before the tattoo, my father, who I was really close to, passed away from cancer. I got the tattoo as a constant reminder of those I've lost. So I will remember them, carry them with me, and evolve into a more complete person by remembering what I learned from all of them. It does come with a weight, but I'm better for it.

I am sorry for your losses. Memorializing loved ones in this way is truly a powerful act πŸ–€
