Not much of interest happened in January.
My spiro (anti-androgen) seems to be interacting with my anti-depressant. I had a number of days where I worked long hard hours and was mentally very sharp, quickly solving problems in fields of science I don't know anything about. I get that way sometimes when I am coming off an anti-depressant. Unfortunately the long hours destroyed my sleep cycle and left me vulnerable to a flu that did not get me too badly but has been hanging on and on.
The spiro lowers blood pressure, and one of the symptoms of low blood pressure is that one wants to sleep a lot. And I've been sleeping a lot. Not in a "I feel sick" sense, just in a "Hmmm, time to go to bed" sense. I should probably be concerned about it more than I am. An odd side-effect is that my dream rate has gone up again, a lot of creative dreams. Unusually for me, though, the dreams have been getting more violent lately, and that's not good.
One thing that taking the spiro has done for me is give me more of a sense of "Okay, let's just do this" (activity that has been waiting for months or years). And that's important, as I've spent too many years with low initiative and "there's always something more important to do". Activities like cleaning the basement. But my wife gets exhausted just knowing that I'm busy cleaning on weekday evenings and asks me to stop and only clean on weekends. And then gets upset when things are out of place for extended periods and makes me put them back, leaving me too little space to do more cleaning in. And on weekends she wants to go out and do other things like leisurely go shopping for luxuries... and then gets upset when I move determinedly in the one hour of remaining time that is all that is left of the time-slot she allows me for the work. You might have noticed that planning and prioritization is not her forte.
