This post by s5 should be read by everyone who is wondering why someone got the zot. That whole thread is quite enlightening.
In case you couldn't guess, my favorite girls spell out ANNIE. Oh dear.
Updates to the Nanoizer and the Scrambler. Now carriage returns and tabs are preserved!
Annie Tetris in progress.
I am aware that I could just swipe the code to make Tetris from someone who's already done it. Come on, that's no fun
I want a challenge.
And making Javascript Tetris will certainly be a challenge. Oy. Whenever I make something I do it in steps. So first I'm making the board. I have to chop the background into squares because I'm making this with Javascript. And I don't want to fool around with CSS/DHTML. I'm not as good with CSS as with Javascript so I'm more comfortable doing it this way. It's just a hassle to cut up the background.
It would be great if I could find more pictures for the background, and have them cycle as the levels go higher. Ah but it would be a little strange to have the background change mid-game because it would load square by square I think. You'd see each square load one by one. I've had a hard time figuring out how to pre-load images properly with Javascript.
Actually the square-by-square effect might be cool. And it would be more than a little distracting as you're trying to play, and distraction adds a challenge. Hmmm.
Might be nice to have a "loading" screen that shows a progress bar while all the images load. I've never been able to figure out how to do that. I know what I'd do though, I'd squeeze all the images to be 1 pixel wide and stick them next to each other, then as they load they'll form the progress bar themselves. I like that idea.
It might also be nice to have some Annie music going in the background. And I'd make a sped up version of the background music (it wouldn't be higher pitched though I hate that) for when the blocks get too high. Not sure I'll do that though.
Soon I'll have to make the code to handle the blocks. Tetris has seven different blocks: the T, the square, the line, the two with two right angles, and the two Ls.
Ooh. It's going to be tough. All with Javascript.
I don't know Flash. It might be better in this situation. I should learn Flash. But I don't wanna. Until I learn it, it's Javascript until the bitter end
Playing the Flash Tetris on ebaumsworld just now I see that their board is 10x18. That's what I'm going by.
I need to figure out how to do levels. And falling speed. Ooh. Tough. But I love a challenge.
Seen my picross? I'm so proud of that one. And my minesweeper. Unfortunately when I've tried to make the board bigger than the beginner level for minesweeper, it goes really slow. Stupid Javascript. Nah I love Javascript. It may have limitations but clearly you can make some good stuff with it. I have!
Maybe I'm old fashioned for sticking with Javascript. Or stupid. Or crazy. Or all of the above.
I applied to four jobs today. And I have more to apply to tomorrow. And I called Manpower to tell them I'm available again. I may go to the Rockville Manpower office and sign up with them again too. I had better luck getting jobs with the Rockville office than I had with the local office. I was productive this morning.
Speaking of productive this morning, I made the stovetop oatmeal shortly after I got out of bed. Mmm it was good. And so easy. It was sweetened with strawberry preserves but it didn't melt so it wasn't all that sweetened. Plus I think I put in too much salt. But I topped it with chopped almonds and Gala apple slices and blueberries. So much apple that I could hardly taste the oatmeal. I prefer it that way
So this was a successful breakfast venture.
I keep waking up at like 7:30am. This is good, but it's weird because I've been setting my computer to play Annie at 8:30am and I've been up before it even starts.
I didn't make my bed like KaraLynn advised, but I did sit at the computer when I got out of bed like L7rules said he does. It worked! I didn't feel compelled to get back in bed. And Redbeard3 was around on chat this morning so I had someone to talk to. YAY!
Man I'm excited about the Annie Tetris. It's gonna be sweet. Hoo boy
Mmmm egg noodles. For perfect egg noodles put in a huge lump of margarine and a shitload of salt. So bad for you, but oh so tasty. Mmm-mmmm. You might say the secret ingredient is salt.
I know I should be eating more than egg noodles for lunch. I'm just sick of stupid easy mac. Bleh.
Fastest mail delivery ever today. (Would the English say "fastest post ever"?) I got Redbeard3's CDs today and I think he sent them two days ago. Very cool.
Well well well. The photo that I didn't want to win for Annie on last.fm got voted out by the one I submitted to Wikipedia. See? That's not the one I want to win but it's cool because I submitted that photo. The voting is still ongoing. So the one I wanted may still bump the other two. Go Annie go!
wtf? I just started the Annie fan radio station from last.fm and it played The Offspring. Ewwww. Not my thing.
Whoa I just had a major dizzy. I hate those.
Mmm I can play that game
I don't know if I'm coming or going...

Only ever had one friend get zotted and that was seriously them being a crazy bitch so it wasn't unexpected. So at least I know that unless I suddenly get super weird I won't be zotted.
