All right now that just pisses me off. For absolutely no reason whatsoever, the electricity flickered and restarted my computer. There is no thunderstorm going on or anything, the sky is clear. I had typed a significant amount of stuff for my next journal, and now its GONE.
So Im going to transition to typing my entries in MS Word, which autosaves drafts. Hopefully it autosaves even if you havent actually saved the document yourself yet.
I had also been playing Zelda Minish Cap and writing the walkthrough (Im on the Palace of Winds now, argh), but luckily I have the presence of mind to obsessively save state every five minutes. And as for the walkthrough, I save after practically every sentence!
Note to self: if Sabrina is trying to get off your desk, don't let her walk on the keyboard desk, or your foot may end up looking like this:
(The cut isn't really that bad, it's just a little too long for a conventional band-aid. Oh yeah and I forgot to explain, the cut is from when the keyboard drawer popped out of its tracks [sliders? whatever] and fell on my foot. It didn't fall directly on it, and it wasn't even painful. I may not even have a bruise. It just cut me. Somehow.)
Anyway, Sabrina tried to escape the clutches of my room just now. Luckily I had good enough reflexes to send my hand down onto her back and pin her to the floor so she couldnt get any further out. Then I turned her right back around and shoved her back into the bathroom. I believe Shadow saw her, but I acted quickly enough that they were both in too much shock to make a run for one another and start clawing each others precious little faces off.
Thats one reason I dont like leaving the bathroom open for Sabrina. Not only does she push stuff on the floor and break shit and piss in the sink when shes angry (which is a lot*), she also likes to wait by the door when I leave the room to try to make a dash for it when I come back in.
* It isnt as violent as it might sound. She does it in a very naughty, sneaky manner. Imagine this:
*Sabrina gently pushes mug into sink, where the handle breaks off* OOPS it broke!
Perhaps she is tiring of being confined to my room. Right after she tried to bolt she was sitting there chillin, and didnt seem too bothered that her escape attempt had been thwarted. But lately shes just been meowing her head off, scratching the walls, carpet, food bowl, and being generally irritating.
As I type this she is now being allowed free reign of the rest of the condo, save moms room where Shadow is currently confined so he wont kill her. Even though she has more freedom, shell occasionally come in and meow at me like its not good enough or something. That blasted cat!
Writing a video game walkthrough is perhaps the most perfect way to waste an entire day without realizing it. I find myself working at it for hours on end, no breaks. Not healthy, sure, but when youre in a rut (a.k.a. pit of despair) its an excellent means of temporary escape.
I go through phases of being bored with writing walkthroughs, but that generally only happens when I reach a dungeon or a checkpoint that is hard and I dont feel like going through. So I just stop and forget about it for a while. Thats the case now with my Zelda Ocarina of Time walkthrough, my saved game has Link right in the entrance to the Water Palace, but I sure as hell dont feel like going through it and writing the walkthrough for it (that dungeon is a bitch).
The added complication is that I have to play it in the living room, and thanks to Sabrinas confinement I cant use the convenient door to the living room that leads right behind the TV, because it would be easier for her to escape while its open. I also happen to have her poopy box and scratching post butted up against the door so she and Shadow dont try to fight through the door (paws through the crack, you see).
Thats why I love emulation. I can play all these video games right at my computer, so I can switch between the emulator program and the walkthrough text file without moving too many muscles. I also use other peoples walkthroughs to help me write my own, to guide me so I make sure I dont miss anything (I do NOT plagiarize. My writing tends to be a lot better than most of these crazy kids.) Because of that, for a game that I have to play on a console, I have to print out large portions of other peoples walkthroughs, and write my own, by hand, as I sit out there in the living room. I guess Ive grown a little too accustomed to the conveniences of modern technology.
The retarded thing is, Ive never published a single walkthrough of mine on any of the game walkthrough archive websites. I have them up on my personal page (and according to my usage statistics people are downloading some of them) but thats it. Also retarded is the fact that, for reasons explained above, most of my walkthroughs are unfinished. I am SO CLOSE to finishing my Chrono Trigger one, but I dont feel like going through the Black Omen again. Argh.
I ripped my Annie singles and my Basia discs and have yet to listen to them. You know, I bought Saint Etiennes Tales from Turnpike House WEEKS ago and I STILL havent listened to it. I get all nervous and retarded about listening to new music, for fear that I am disappointed. I was going to listen to it last night, but it was getting too late (like 1am late). Of course, I stayed up until 3 in the morning or something, so that was a pretty lame excuse not to listen to it.
I need to get back into illustrating my entries. It was fun, but it was also difficult at times. I shall try next time.
jonnytrrrash7, I know how you love MADONNA!!!
Get into the groove
boy you've got to prove
your love to me
YEAH!
Get up on your feet
Yeah, step to the beat
Boy what will it be???
Music can be such a revelation
Dancing around you feel the sweet sensation
We might be lovers if the rhythm's right
I hope this feeling never ends tonight
Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free
At night I lock the doors, where no one else can see
I'm tired of dancing here all by myself
Tonight I wanna dance with someone else!!!

edit- Hopefully this link to the Amazon celebs thing will work. (I see where John Hiatt delivered to a fan in the town he was playing in that night, so I assume they set things up in convenience to the celebs.)
