fuckin' RAD.

Mom's off seeing The Bravery and some other band(s) at the 9:30 club. She had left her car at my aunt's house when they went to NYC, and for complicated reasons I had to drive her down this evening to get it. We visited with grandma, who lives down the street. After mom left I had an extremely lovely visit with my aunt, who had many encouraging words for me. Always a treat to visit my aunt.

After that, I was determined to go to Tower Records, since not too far up the main drag. I STILL haven't found a decent record store in my area.

Wellsir, I checked out their stock of Annie's album Anniemal. I would've bought one (which would have been my third legal copy of the album) if they were selling the US release, but these were all the import. Then I moseyed on over to Basia, and grabbed Time and Tide and London Warsaw New York. Looked at their Saint Etienne section, they had plenty of Tales From Turnpike House but all import. I need to know when SE are releasing the album in the US so I can buy ten copies to convince them to tour here. I'm doubting they will, but I'm still crossing my fingers.

Then I went into the other big room, which is where they keep classical and jazz and stuff. I guess they put that stuff in another room as a convenience for customers who don't want to hear the crappy rawk they have blasting in the main room (although tonight they were playing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets... they were at the part where Harry and Ron have transformed into Crabbe and Goyle and are talking to Malfoy in the Slytherin common room. If you care.) Anyway I was in there looking for Easy Listening because I want to find more Burt (specifically Isaac Hayes' renditions that Cheech has been telling me about) but no dice. I was too afraid to ask about it because they're so gol-durned snarky there at Tower.

Sooo I left the classical/jazz/other stuff room and noticed their CD singles section. Containing my excitement I walked over to the As. There she was, Annie. Well, not in the flesh. That would have been... well, I would have fainted, frankly. Anyway, they had the Heartbeat and Chewing Gum singles. SCORE. Heartbeat was the US version, Chewing Gum the import.

Then, time to whip out the old credit card. I brought my stuff to the counter and the guy started scanning. And what did he say? He said:

Tower Records guy (TRG): hey, is this the Annie that has that CD out?
Caz (me): Which CD?
TRG: I think it's self titled?
Caz: Er, it's called Anniemal.
TRG: Yep, that's it. She's good. (emphasis added)
Caz: (if I were less stoic I would have been jumping up and down on the balls of my feet. I don't remember what I said here but I assented heartily in some way. Probably "oh yeah!") "I saw her up in NYC!"
TRG: Really! How was it?
Caz: Great! (I said it in kind of an aloof way and I feel bad about that.)

Sooooo yeah. The Tower Records guy (and Tower Records guys are usually snarky bastards) likes Annie. Fuckin' RAD.

So I got in Annie the car and listened to Annie the singer, feelin' kickass, and drove home.

Started chatting with Redbeard3, and as we were talking I realized that I could poke around with Google for info on how to grab that stream of the Annie clip from MTV, the one I struggled for a good half-hour yesterday to try to steal. Found a FAQ for such things, and it mentioned right-clicking the video to get its properties. I had tried right-clicking before, but it only gave me the options they give for flash videos. But I went ahead and browed to the video player anyway. And right-clicked the video. AND IT HAD AN OPTION FOR PROPERTIES. Whoa wtf. I guess I was just being dumb and never actually right-clicked the actual video. So, my friends, the URL of the stream was RIGHT THERE. That's right, I now have the MTV video clip for Annie safely on my hard drive to view any time, as many times as I want, at my leisure. FUCKIN' RAD!!!

And now, my good readers, I happen to be printing out 40 rasterbated pages of the image of Annie from my profile pic. I also made a smaller, 24 page version in case this thing is too huge. But soon, I will have a rasterbated poster of Annie up on my wall, above my bed. Do I need to say it again? Yes. Fuckin' RAD.

Oh and omg. I'm getting the new Harry Potter tomorrow. I won't say it again this time but you know what I want to say.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I'm not anti-sex, but I would say I'm pretty apathetic about it. As you can imagine, this has not done wonders for past relationships. Good to have a sense of humor about it tho. smile

I can't open that link; I'm at work...

but I'm sure I can burn Issac Hayes for you. At least the long version of "The Look of Love" and the single version of "Walk On By". Both are on the soundtrack of Dead Presidents (a good movie, btw; overlooked, I think because it's bleak as all get-out... it has a great soundtrack of '70s soul). I found Isaac's ...to Be Continued boring, anyway... see, I never, ever liked George Harrison's "Something."
I don't own Hot Buttered Soul on CD anymore, but I'm not saying you shouldn't get it. Long version of "Walk On By" (but mostly just an overlong guitar wah-wah coda), a very funky jam with a long title (don't make me type it), and quite an interesting version of "By the Time I Get to Phoenix"- Isaac explains why he recorded it, then draws out the entire story of the lyrics over 10 minutes or so of orchestral/organ vamping, then he sings the song.
Would you like a Moog synth version of "The Look of Love"? For some reason, I was thinking you'd find it in poor taste, but now I'm thinking that is the reason the Moog was invented anyway, to provide good bad music.
Way rad, dude.
