Thanks for the kind words RE: my getting the axe.

I've been rockin' the recorder these past few days. Mr. T played the recorder. It's true.

I'm working on (re-)learning Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (click to download a lovely rendition of it by an ensemble). You have probably heard this song before, but won't recognize it by its name.

I will record myself playing ^ that once I get better at it, but before that there is a duet I would like to do. I will record myself playing one part, then use the audio program thingy to record the second part over it. I'm layin' down the TRAX.

My Amazon wish list now has stuff I actually want on it. If any of you are ever actually considering getting me a gift or something, sort the list by priority so you know what stuff I want the most.

I discovered that Lego no longer makes the Knight's Kingdom chess set. frown It was $50 when they sold it, and now you can get sealed sets on eBay for about $70-80. :-/ I would put that on my Amazon wish list, but the used ones on Amazon are going for over $100. :-/

I get the Lego catalog each month, by the way. love Yes, they put out a catalog. smile I ordered a pirate ship set from their website a while back, and now I get their catalog every month. It is FUN to read, but unfortunately Lego is mega-expensive. There are some special Star Wars sets that are like $300! eeek That's probably how much the Death Star set is. That thing is HUGE. Just the Sandcrawler (the thingy that the Jawas drive around the deserts of Tatooine collecting droids) is $140!

I disabled hotlinking from my http://www.thonky.com site. People were hotlinking this drawing like crazy (on this page, for one [warning, it's MYSPACE!!! *runs screaming*]). I would like to be able to disable hotlinking just from certain directories, because I'd like to be able to host images on my own server to post in my journal here, but with hotlinking disabled, they all show up as:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

What do you think of my anti-hotlinking image, by the way? I made the background by drawing some dark green lines on a light green background, then adding the Photoshop "ocean ripple" effect. Originally I had created it for the paranoia zine in S.C.A.B., but my efforts to draw something relating to the theme of paranoia all ended in failure, and thus, the background went unused, until now. The font I use in my rather ugly image is my own handwriting font, which you can download here (right-click, save as).

I think I did a good job with my anti-hotlinking image. It is ugly, for starters, which should discourage hotlinkers, and it also uses a phrase that I like to use ("bad and wrong"), so it is very "me".

I am sad that the army points system is no more. It seems like there is no longer any real incentive to make banners and such. You can sign up for an affiliate account to earn cash for referrals, but that is really more for big websites with a lot of traffic, and not small-time members like most of the SG population. That's no fun.

Despite that, since there is a contest for a prize pack for banner/template/teaser submissions, I went ahead and made a couple of teasers:

I don't really have any Photoshop skills to speak of. Mostly, I know how to crop images effectively, and I can add text with an outline, and simple things like that. Fancier effects are beyond me.

I'll probably try to make some more if I can think of some sets/images that would work well.

Hope you are all having a marvelous time of things. Until next time, ta!

Both teasers are pretty damn cool - #1's probably more representative of the site but #2 is not without its charms. Good luck with the compo!
