So for those of you who weren't convinced by the DNA strand tattoo, I now offer incontrovertible evidence that I am a MEGA-dork.

Saturday morning, I woke up at 9AM (to hear the radio announce that it was 1 degree in central park) so that I could go to Lincoln Center and see... all three Lord of the Rings movies in a row (that means the extended versions of the first and second one, by the way.) This was a Christmas gift from a friend - they were being shown sequentially at Alice Tully hall, with introductory speeches from cast members (those who happened to be in the city, I imagine). The first speech started at 10AM, with the movie following a few minutes later.

I emerged from the theater at 11:30PM on Saturday night, with my ass and back both killing me and my eyes blurry and my stomach bothering me (having subsisted the entire day on half a burrito, coffee, red bull and gummy bears.)

Don't get me wrong - it was still really fun (and the 30 minute conclusion sequence in Return of the King is much more tolerable when you've seen the entire trilogy in one sitting) but I don't think I'll be doing anything like that again for quite some time.

And of course, I was in different seats for each movie, and was subjected to three different varieties of annoying-moviegoers throughout. The first was a rather large and unsightly woman who immediately staked her claim to the armrest that we shared. Throughout the movie a variety of nauseating smells wafted in my direction from her, one of which smelled distinctly like old cheese.

The second one was relatively harmless, but annoying nonetheless - a guy who was relentlessly text messaging someone throughout the entire movie and would get beeps on his cell phone confirming... whatever throughout the movie.

The last one was by the far the most annoying. I'm not a large guy (by any stretch of the imagination) and this guy was enormous, otherwise I would have said something to him. Basically, he felt like it was his job to tell his girlfriend what was about to happen in the movie 10 seconds before it happened. For 3 and a half hours. I have no idea whether this was at her request, but it really takes away some of the fun when you hear "Oh, snap, this is where the orc's head gets cut off!" "This scene is great, watch when Gandalf totally kicks his ass!" Ah, the movies. Of course, it could always have been worse.

Afterwards, despite the frigid cold, I felt that I needed to get out and actually interact with people for a while, and I was dying for a drink, and fortunately enough there was an SGNY bar meetup in the lower east side that I went to. It was nice knowing some people there this time, and was pretty relaxed and fun. I skipped out on Opaline, the second bar they went to, as I've been there before and seen the horror that the "panty-room" can become, and I was starting to feel worn out.

Then I did basically nothing today except go to the gym and read.

But a pretty good weekend, overall.

Oh yeah, and I heard from K. on Friday, she seemed to have a good time on our last date, and we're set to go out this Tuesday, which I'm very much looking forward to.

This will be a busy week socially - Tuesday night I'm out with K., Wednesday night I'm organizing the SGNY dinner, Thursday I'm out C. (she's a long story I'll explain some other time) and Friday night I've been coerced into watching some fucked-up movie called "Auction" with some friends. Should be fun.

Hope everybody else had a good weekend...
