Huh, interesting. Being as travel is the main thing I save my pennies for, I always seem to get a kick out of it. The main thing, for me, is to no expect much of anything from the trip. If I can do that everything usually turns out golden.

It's a childhood friend of the dude I date. He's the same age as me, he paints and I hadn't met him before. He had cool eyes. I'll try and photograph him some more sometime.

I left my keys and piece of myself up North

Okay maybe I'm being a little melodramatic with the "piece of myself" thing but what I mean by that is Sean and I are now really over. For real this time. Seriously now. I'm not kidding. Okay, maybe we aren't... but I think we are. For sure. It was a weird encounter and I don't...

Vacations can be so cleansing. I'm still sorta bummed you didn't make it to Pubsquat.
punt:
sorry you didn't have the best trip...but besides the dude-drama it sounds like a good one.
I wish I made it to SF more often, but I'm afraid of the drinking and driving back to SJ, so I tend to stick around here most of the time. Sounds like you're close to some sort of closure though. That's a good feeling...eventually.

Last night I was answering the eternal question of "Which is better, LA or SF?" and I came up with the best answer ever.

Sas Frangeles.

It will be the greatest new city in America (because frankly, we can't compete with Paris, London, Rome and all that other shit around the globe with lots of history).

Ah, Sas Frangeles...land that I love.

Post some ideas...

minor dilemma

So there is going to be a screening of Roman Holiday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday night that I want to go to. On the same night my roommates are doing an installation at a gallery/theater that they're really excited about. I said I might check it out because I had forgotten about the cemetery screening.

So admission to the installation...

I'm reaching for the phone, to call at 7:03
On your machine I slur a plea for you to come home
But I know it's too late
I should have given you a reason to stay
given you a reason to stay
given you a reason to stay

I think I might have been overly emotional in the past...

Do you believe
In what you feel?
It doesn't seem to be anybody else who agrees with me

Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me

I feel like everyone I've talked to, with the exception of one or two friends, have told me this "relationship" is pretty much over. And I know that only I really know what the situation is because...

You're right...life sure as hell isn't the movies! But goddamn if I don't want my happy mother fucking ending for once!!!

For the record though...strong and passionless isn't the same thing as 'sane.' Cry your heart out...it's the most honest and self-authentic thing you can do...anything less is cheating yourself. And when you're ready...don't beat yourself up for 'another failed relationship' rather pat yourself on the back for having the heart (balls) to keep giving it a try, cuz THAT is strong! kiss blackeyed kiss

Go be emotional irresponsible. We all deserve it occassionally.

You're asking me will my love grow,
I don't know, I don't know.
You stick around now, it may show,
I don't know, I don't know.

How long do you think it takes to fall in love? You think there is a time period in which if it doesn't happen then it will never happen?

I haven't been in a lot of relationships. Really this...

Pfffft...the more I think I've got this whole 'love' thing figured out...the more lost I become.
The minute I thought I was 'sure' about anything, the gods went and threw me for a loop!

Now I'm in a relationship with someone who looks to be so very wrong for me. But then, we connect on so many internal/personal levels I keep thinking it shouldn't matter about some of the other stuff? We've been friends for a long time, so I'm not lying when I tell him I love him...however, this 'in love' thing? He seems AWFULY sure about it...and I'm still wishy washy. Not living in my head so much about it, just trying to let things go as they will. But I wonder about myself...does falling in love have a time limit? How can I be 'in love' with him one day and not the next?

I haven't had that much real life dating experience myself...and I sure as shit wasn't dating the two other dudes I really WAS in love with. Of course, I only *realized* I was in love with them when it was too late. Seems that's the only time I can see it for what it is...when the army comes to reactivate him and take him away...or sitting on a plane flying back halfway across the country away from him... Shit like that... I'm LIVING with this dude...he tells me he loves me all the time...asks me to marry him every single day (no shit!)... If neither one of us is going to take off and leave me alone...I wonder if I'll every realize my feelings for him? But like I said, I'm trying not to live in my head about it (that never gets us far!)...

And that's my very long blog comment about relating...
toothpickmoe:
Well, it is an endlessly fascinating subject, even if the same things get said a lot. One can never stop learning about this sort of thing, I think. One is never "done." That might be a frightening prospect for some, but I find it bracing.

She was on the road to self destruction. She knew it. She knew where her actions would take her and she was familiar with the sad roller coaster ride to recovery.

So why did she just keep doing it? In the back of her mind she thought "I'm going to have to pay for this later." She wasn't living in the now. She was living...

Hello! Sorry for the ridiculously long delay in replying. The UK rational Health Service provides health care "free at the point of delivery" to all UK citizens. Some things aren't covered. Dentistry has charge, but NHS dentists cost significantly less than non-NHS dentists. Some Eye test stuff isn't covered. And there is a charge per item for prescribed medication, but that is only 6.40, (that's be for a month's supply, usually) and about 80% of people getting prescription meds don't need to pay for them.

There have been troubles with the NHS. There used to be very long waiting lists, and there still are for some treatments. Some treatments are not available to some people based on their location because local health authorities can buy different services. This has especially had an effect of couple wanting fertility treatment. Some expensive meds need to be approved before they're prescribed, and this has led to high profile campaigns for newer treatments for some unpleasant diseases - some people say the campaigns are partly funded by big pharma companies.

On the whole it's an excellent service, and most people in the UK have a fondness for it.

It can be frustrating when a local doctor sends you away to a specialist clinic; some of the branches don't share information at all well. And once you get away from the clinical staff and start talking to managers you realise that sometimes they have weird ideas about people and healthcare.
