Quick, now, what's the first thing that comes into your dirty little minds when you hear "Germany"? No, all wrong, the answer is NOT crazy pervy scat porn, but BEER. Don't really drink the stuff much, myself, except the kind that's brewed in my hometown of Duesseldorf and is called "Altbier" (literally, "old beer"...and I remember a commercial where a Japanese tourist says, "ahhhh no...

^^^ I second that! Oh, and Bette Midler, obviously.
P.S. how is it that e-cards capture the perfect essence of one's emotions? Hallmark better step their game up!

Wow! That looks like a gorgeous spot! Glad to hear you had such a lovely Sunday. ^_^
While my heart does go out to all those affected in one way or another by the recent tragedies in Boston and in Texas, at the risk of sounding awfully unemotional, I would urge everyone to perhaps lose a little bit of their very U.S.-centric perspective and reflect for a second or two that there are areas in the world where these are everyday occurrences....

Amazingly true. Generalizing all of humanity as monsters is melodramatic, and I am guilty of such acts at times (though I try my damnedest to steer from such tunnel vision thinking). I pray for everyone who's been affected by these isolated attacks, whether directly or indirectly. But as you've mentioned, these types of attacks take place everyday in other countries. I guess either some/most (not all) Americans are desensitized to violence that we are not directly impacted by, and we lose sight of the macro level world around us, or we grow wearier when these attacks hit so close to home because, on a large scale, they are anomalies.

Yeah, my entire family is SUPER conservative... My parents are at least friendly to gay people, but other than that, yeah... totally different views than me. And they seem to think my opinions are just lies Obama has brainwashed me with, and have a hard time believing people might think differently than them. I respect everyone's opinions, beliefs, faith, etc, yet they don't respect mine. That's why it's so freakin frustrating.

Yep. It's something I am sometimes good at, and at other times just terrible at. Also, you changed your profile picture! Or... the main one. ^_^ I like it!

^_^ Awesome!
I suppose the average SGer doesn't remember or care, or when they do, they are likely to react negatively to any mention of her, but I for one am truly saddened by the death of Margaret Thatcher. She was a woman of great courage, a true trailblazer for women in politics, as well as for modern conservatism which she, along with Ronald Reagan, defined and...

I do remember Mrs. Thatcher, a lady of vison and courage.

I've been so buried in my schoolwork I didn't even know she had passed! I feel so out of touch! I know she did some great work in her lifetime. What a life she lived!

Wait, why are you not watching Vikings? The season will be finished soon, so you can watch them all at once. And if you want to see buxom shield maidens (fierce Viking lady warriors), there are plenty of those. Here's one.
