But of course! "fucker" is one of my favorite terms of endearment. :-D

Now there you are, yes, there's that face
That face that somehow I trust
It may embarrass you to hear me say it
But say it I must, say it I must

You have the cool clear eyes of a seeker
Of wisdom and truth
Yet there's that up turned chin
And the grin of impetuous youth

Oh, I believe in you, I believe in...

I love this! Truly! So much sweetness. If it were only possibly to have someone believe in you this much, I know that so many seemingly insurmountable crises would be overcome..
kaicito:
If memory serves, the protagonist ("J. Pierpont Finch") sings that to himself, to get up his courage before a big meeting. But it also works as you say, especially the "faith" verse.

Aaaaand that's a quote from The Ask, by Sam Lipsyte. Anyone familiar with this writer? (and by anyone, I mostly mean YOU, @ADELINA ) Read a short story of his in this week's New Yorker and was hooked, so now I'm reading The Ask on my Kindle. He has an amazing way with words.

Apropos of nothing and just because the song's been playing in my mind this morning, here's a great and catchy tune from "How To Succeed in Show Business Without Really Trying" (or H2S), with the great rubber-faced Robert Morse doing his thing (if any of you have been watching Mad Men, he's on there as Sterling Cooper's senior partner Bert Cooper). Starts at approx...

Welcome...to the May Day edition of Sets I'd Still Love to See on FP (or SISLTSOFP for short...). You know, some sets are so stunning in so many ways that it kind of boggles the mind that they haven't graced the FP...yet. Let me submit for your consideration the awesome collaboration of @DRAVE and @BITTEN on their set LIGHTHOUSE, a set that just screams...

Anyone in Paris this weekend? The Paris Museum of Modern Art has a retrospective of Argentine artist Lucio Fontana, who is mostly famous for his slashed and punctured canvases:

But the exhibition also includes early works in different formats, such as this exquisite mosaic bust of his wife-to-be, Teres(it)a, which was new to me and which I like a lot. So, I just felt like

I've long been a fan of John Updike's, and have in fact read a great many of his novels and short stories. With a new biography of him in bookstores, he's been more present than he had been for a while, and I'm just done reading reviews of the biography in the NY Times and The New Yorker. His poetry wasn't what attracted me to...

And I haven't read any John Updike before. I may have to start soon. <333
kaicito:
@adelina But definitely! Maybe something light to start with, like The Witches of Eastwick. My favorites are the Rabbit tetralogy, only I don't care so much for the first two volumes and prefer the latter two.

I can't really consider myself very widely traveled, but I have been to a great many European countries from my home base in Germany... to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy (including the island of Sardinia), Spain (including the islands of Mallorca, Tenerife and Lanzarote), the U.K. (including Scotland and Wales), and Ireland and to some of...

@adelina Thank you! I'm not really in the mood myself yet. We're flying to Milan... and considering I got a speeding ticket from Italy in the mail half a year after our last trip, we're doing our side trips by train this time.
adelina:
I'm sure it will be more relaxing going by plane and train. I didn't know you were a law breaking criminal.  ;-)

We checked out the new concept mall in the center of what was once West Berlin. A pretty cool little place called Bikini Berlin

...even if the grammar Nazi in me kept nagging that it should be "shop differently".

They have a cute design hotel overlooking the zoo.

The cavernous interior, with temporary "pop up stores" on the ground floor.

The cleverly named bathrooms...

@adelina Why thank you... "cute" does sound so much nicer than "confused" ;-)
