Waiting for Two-Oh-Nineteen

Seeing my main girl (I wish) @adriella on the Front Page is a happy way to almost ring out the old year! I'm lucky enough to have two more days off before heading back to the old grindstone for a shortened work week. Fireworks have been on sale here since Friday, and while it's theoretically forbidden to use them before New Year's Eve, sporadic "gunfire" has been heard since yesterday. Berliners tend to go overboard with fireworks, turning the city into what amounts to a war zone, so we plan to not head out the door tomorrow night but stay safely hunkered down inside... the idea is to cook up something nice, watch a movie, play a board game or two and finish off a bottle of champagne or two (more likely one, as I'm not a huge fan of the bubbly).

In Germany, we have the saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", so I mostly refrain from doing New Year's resolutions, or I keep recycling old ones...

Resolutions aside, I wish every one of my SG friends a great time as they bid 2018 goodbye, and nothing but happiness and good times in the new year. See y'all then!

@kaicito I grew  up on Pogo (I'm 70); there was one book he created called the "Jack Acid Society" which lampooned Nixon viciously -- so I'm pretty sure he would have sliced up Trump as well.  Pogo was one of the first openly political (and liberal) cartoons... the first, oddly enough, was "Little Orphan Annie" where she was to represent the "Orphaned" American Communist Party taking down Daddy Warbucks... but the franchise was sold, and she (and what she represented) was bought out by the aforementioned War-Bucks...

@oldernow I'm aware that characters like Joe McCarthy, J. Edgar Hoover and Spiro Agnew or caricatures thereof appeared in the strip. I do like Kelly's drawing style a lot (I believe he worked at the Disney studios for a while)
