One recent homework assignment by @lyxzen and @missy was to list or describe favorite smells... I suppose I'm not being terribly original when I say that among my favorite aromas are the smells of freshly brewed coffee or freshly baked bread wafting through the kitchen, the smell of a garden or a forest right after a rain, that old aroma staple, vanilla (if it's not too obviously chemically engineered), and all types of citrus smells - orange, lemon, grapefruit, and lemon verbena to name one aromatic herb. Freshly grown herbs like lavender, thyme, or rosemary are lovely to breathe in, too. Then there are some scents I like that most other people don't, namely, chemical smells like benzene or industrial alcohol (I realize these are unhealthy to breathe in, so a whiff is enough for me) , the smell you get when you open a can of paint. I also like the sooty smell of a burning fire, which isn't for everyone I suppose. And there you have some of my fave smells - I don't usually devote much thinking to this question, so I guess there are many more.
