I just got back from an amazing trip out to the SouthEast Coast, a bit of a whirlwind. I hit Wilmington (nods to the folks at the Mellow Mushroom), Wrightsville Beach (great if you are rich), Myrtle Beach (oh mama), Ocracoke Island (my heart of hearts), Farmville, VA. (??), and Richmond VA, then back to merry ol' Athens for a Royales gig.
I met lots of cool folks and bands and clubs, so I am hoping to a get a tour together that will largely repeat the path that I took, with a few additions.
The last night on the island my friends and I ate some acid, watched the sun set (in one of the few places on the east Coast that allows you such a luxury - thank you Pamlico Sound - then watched Venus set; it was amazing. The Milky Way swirled above us as we watched satellites fly by and looked for aliens. The water was lovely, and I calmed my excitable self in the surf, grooving on this amzing planet Earth - a world out of balance thanks to the cancer that we humans are to this place.
Big block party this weekend, and my bluegrass band, Slim Pickins is doing two nights at the Casa Cantina - look out! 30,000 people coming to my town to party - bring it on! I also made a new friend in town - Janananicole - thanks for inviting me aboard. It's time to stir up this sleepy little town!
