I don't know what it is about tournaments and ranking systems, but I really enjoy them. Teams or individuals, as little as 8 or as large as 64, I find it fun to keep up with. I often come up with my own little tournament about various things, from the NBA, to Magic the Gathering, to who is the hottest SuicideGirl. Once I set it all up, I run the tournament in a variety of ways and determine who the champion is.

I'm currently in the middle of determining who the hottest SG is, by doing a lengthy process of looking at about a thousand pictures, selecting the best ones, grouping them up, and have several rounds to determine who the best one is. Right now, at this very moment, I'm bored enough to explain the entire process of how I choose from hundreds of SG's and end up with just one winner at the end.

1) This tournament started at the very beginning of this year. Anyone who was featured as the "set of the day" is an eligible contestant. The last eligible contestant will be the very last set of the day for the year of 2011.

2) I look at most of the pictures from each "set of the day", and select my one favorite picture. What I look for when selecting a picture are:

a) The girl's face to be fully visible, and preferably looking at the camera.
Bad example: http://img.suicidegirls.com/media/girls/Jamity/photos/After%20the%20work%20%20%20/12.jpg
b) The girl's breasts to be fully visible (as in not covered by clothing or by hair/arms/etc). Both breasts preferred. If not, then as much as possible.
Bad example: http://img.suicidegirls.com/media/girls/Nikoll/photos/Unbridled%20%20%20/42.jpg
c) The girl should not be lying flat on their back, and the picture should not be upside-down.
Bad example: http://img.suicidegirls.com/media/girls/Arabella/photos/%20%20Union%20%20Jack%20%20%20/54.jpg
d) The girl should be topless and not wearing a hat of any kind. Preferably completely nude (shoes and/or socks are sometimes okay).
e) The girl should be alone. Which means I'm not including sets that have two or more girls in them.

That's it. Anything else would be considered extra (stomach, arms/hands, vagina, legs, etc), but these are the bare minimum. The favorite picture is then saved to my computer, with the name of "XX ????", where XX is the month, and ???? is the name of the girl (I suppose you could call this my "picture of the day"). I had to add in the XX because a few girls have been featured in the set of the day more than once this year (Carrina has been the set of the day three times so far (Jan 10, Mar 14, Jun 7)). I count each set of the day as a unique entry, meaning that they aren't "disqualified" for having more than one set of the day. So far, no girls have been featured in the set of the day twice in the same month, which is a good thing for me!

3) All the pictures that I saved are grouped together based off of the month. Some days have two sets of the day, in which case both were looked at and I saved a picture from each one. Example: February has only 28 days in it, but I have 36 pictures saved, meaning there were several days where there was more than one set of the day.

So at this point in the year, we have completed six months. That means I have six folders, each of which have an average of 33 pictures, all of different girls. For the example I used above with Carrina, she is represented in January, March, and June, with the corresponding pictures of course. July is almost over, so that means my July folder is almost ready to go into the next round.

I suppose you could call "Round 0" the process of me selecting my favorite picture of the set of the day.

4) This is when it starts to get fun. Let's use an example of 32 unique contestants. Using a different website, I create a double-elimination tournament with all the pictures/girls. I shuffle all the names around to try to set up a random tournament (by default, they are listed in alphabetical order, which I don't like). I'll try to briefly explain how a double-elimination tournament works:

a) With 32 entries, each girl is matched up against another girl at random. With 32 girls going up against each other, 16 will win and 16 will lose. The 16 winners move up to the winner's bracket, while the 16 losers move down to the loser's bracket.

b) The girls in the loser's bracket are now paired up with the other girls in the loser's bracket. Out of these 16, 8 will obviously win, and 8 will obviously lose. A girl is considered to be out of the tournament when she loses twice. At this moment in the example, 8 girls have now lost twice, and are out. The 8 winners of the losers still have one loss, meaning if they lose again, they are out.

c) At the same time, the winners face the winners. Out of the 16, 8 will win again, while the other 8 will lose. These losers here aren't out yet, since it is only their first loss. But now, the winner of the losers and the loser of the winners will face each other in the next round, while the winners of the winners will face each other.

d) Inevitably, everyone but one girl will lose twice. Depending on how quickly they lost determines their rank. If they were the first ones to lose twice, they are in last place. If they are the very last person to lose twice, they are in second.

e) After a winner has been determined and ranks have been assigned to each contestant, this entire double-elimination tournament is run again. This is done to get more accurate results and to prevent very unlucky match-ups.

f) The second time around, names will not be randomized. Instead, a traditional pairing method will be used, which puts the highest ranking girl up against the lowest ranking girl. So 1 will face off against 32. Then 2 against 31. Then 3 against 30, all the way through 16 against 17. This is considered to be the most fair way to set up a tournament, because after a few rounds, the highest ranking girls will still be in the tournament.

After two complete tournaments of double-elimination, the top 16 girls move onto the next round, while the rest of them are out of the game completely. Keep in mind, that this whole two time double-elimination thing was done for just one month. I do it all over again, with new girls, for each month.

5) After the top 16 girls are chosen for each month, I move onto the next stage. That stage will group up girls from different months and put them up against each other, similar to what I have already done. They are grouped up in 4 different groups:

Jan, Feb, Mar is named "Quarter 1"
Apr, May, Jun is named "Quarter 2"
Jul, Aug, Sep is named "Quarter 3"
Oct, Nov, Dec is named "Quarter 4"

What happens after that, I haven't figured it out yet. I'm not that far into this whole tournament, and it will literally take a year to complete it all. But to me, this is fun. I get to look at hundreds of beautiful women and determine who is my favorite SuicideGirl of the year. Oh, I guess I haven't explained how I determine a winner in a match-up. Girls get "points" depending on a lot of different factors. They include:

Best pose/position (sitting, standing, kneeling, facing front, leaning back, crouching, bending over, stretching, so on)
Beauty
Hair color, length, and style
Eye color
Skin tone
Breast size and nipples, natural or fake (what can I say, I'm a breast person!)
Facial expression
Tattoos and piercings
Glasses and jewelery

Those are just the ones that pop into my mind, and which I can explain. There are times where one girl would "win" against another girl for a reason I can't quite describe. Some things that will hinder a girl are:

Too thin
Excessive body scars
Too much make-up
Obvious/uneven tan lines
Sometimes, it's not the girl, but the photographer or set location. Pictures with cars, or on stairs, or with other objects that take away my attention from the girl are negatives. Oh well, not everyone can win. With so many pictures to look at, I have to narrow it down somehow!

Once I get further into this whole tournament thing, if anyone is interested, I'll post my personal rankings from time to time. One last thing I should mention:

THIS IS MY OPINION, AND ONLY MINE! IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY RESULTS, TOO FUCKING BAD! RUN YOUR OWN DAMN TOURNAMENT!

If you would like, I can help you set up your own tournament. Just let me know!

Finally, just for fun, here are some numbers. Since we have completed six full months, these numbers represent about half of the entire tournament.
Each set of the day has about an average of 50 pictures in them.
Each month has about an average of 33 sets of the day.
I've gone through 6 months so far.
50 x 33 x 6 = 9900
That's almost ten thousand, and only halfway into the year. Twenty thousand pictures, and I only get to pick one as the ultimate winner. This will be one hell of a tournament.

If anyone is curious to see my personal progress and opinions, let me know. I'll be more than happy to share!
