I'm getting pretty fucking sick of chicken soup. Honestly, I'd much prefer a broken arm over a sore throat. Is that strange?
I'm being all brave and making new friends. It's cool though, I like it. There are some cool kids in this town.
You know what I kind of miss though? Remember, when you were a little kid, how you had a best friend? Just one? Like, you'd have lots of friends, and one BEST friend, and everyone knew that you were best friends, and serious drama would ensue when another friend entered the picture, though sometimes you'd end up being a happy triangle? I think there's something awesome about having a best friend when you're in your 20's. Though this seems to require that you're either both hetero and of the same sex, or, if you're of different sexes, one of you must be gay, or something. Then again though, maybe that's really what relationships are (or at least good ones) - having a best friend who you also have sex with.
Hmmm. I keep puzzling over the whole issue of proximity, independence, and selfhood in relationships. I don't think I've found a suitable answer yet. I feel like Hollywood tells you that true love means that you live for and through and in one another, essentially becoming one person, but that feels a bit too... cramped for me. But too much space is no good either - or maybe I just have a tendency to turn space into alienation and estrangement. I often wonder how other people perceive my relationship though - especially since I've been asked more than once when we're going to get married (you have to pause here and realize how hard it is for me not to scream and run away when people do that (man, you guys are such assholes - my journal is totally gonna be full of omg when r u guyz guna get maryed?!?!!1!one!? now, isn't it)). Anyways, it's an issue I puzzle over a lot. Perhaps one that ought to be sorted out with one's significant Other (I've been reading way too much psychoanalytic lit theory lately), but perhaps best sorted out alone.
Dear friends, if you've made it to the bottom of this long, tiresome entry, please to elucidate your ideas about what in the hell the point of relationships is, because I'm really not entirely sure that I know.

I think you can have a best friend of the opposite sex whom you don't fuck and who isn't gay, but it's hard.
