Just got home from the Lucero show. They were fucking amazing, as always. If you don't see them when they hit your town next, you're gonna go straight to hell. Not only do they rock harder than your momma, they're also kick ass guys. They actually remembered me from when I stood outside a bar in Boise just to hear them. I got handshakes, hugs,...

Apparently, something about my voice just makes people wanna give until it hurts - NPR made $3,000 on my watch. BAM!
cruelty:
I pledged to NPR. I don't think I won the i-pod though...

You could make a killing with your own 900 number.
JIMMY'S BOUGHT A PORNO PHOTOHUNT MACHINE.
Perhaps I should be concerned about how unbelievably happy that makes me. I blew a stack of quarters on it and then watched a majority of True Lies, until Dan got bored (sidenote to self - must get better friends) so we fast forwarded to the scene where he shoots a guy on a missile through a building into...

so the key to the post is that i wrote 'semester,' and not 'year' on purpose. i wont see you (most likely) until after my semester is done, and by that point, ill be drinking again. i dont think i have a good reason to be sober at home, i enjoy drinking there and dont feel like its a problem. also, at that point, i wont be paying for food, so i wont mind buying alcohol.
also, i think you really need to watch 'commando' on fx sometime soon. its just absolutely incredible. nothing like arnold tearing a seat out of a car and then riding in it to hide himself. just so awesome.

have fun this weekend!
Working my ass off. The Quarter system keeps on dishing it out, baby.
I'm volunteering for NPR on Friday. It'll be cool to do some work that actually has direct impact on the world. Not to mention work that doesn't involve thinking, and where success can actually be quantified.
However, I've been doing lots of thinking about the future, my career, and what I'm doing,...

This one in particular is called The Man Who Loved Only Numbers. It's about Paul Erdos, primarily, but has a lot of math history in it, particularly 20c. stuff. It's gotten me really interested in Russell and Godel, though, so next up is Godel's Proof.
Sorry, in a hurry right now (off to work) so no time to look up authors' names.
Good luck with NPR. Do well, please--the pledge drive is driving me mad as usual (I'm a member, thank you very much

Well, today was pretty sweet. I didn't get much work done, but it's ok, I needed and deserved a break.
So I got up, made some fucking awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, read some Plato. Had parowki and some Polish bread for lunch - god bless Chicago and its Polish neighborhood, so I can eat some proper meals - then I met up with Colie...

I like that the sun acts as my alarm clock. I mean, I guess it prevents me from every really sleeping in, but it's nice to wake up to the warmth of sun on your skin.

You know how many guns we have, right?
Sometimes, when you try to do too much, you end up doing nothing.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try...
I need a fucking break, from a lot of things.
I'm tired.

It has been cloudy here. I know there have been a ton of solar flares, but all I see is fog at night.

Yes, the Golden Nugget (in any of its multiple incarnations) usually fails to satisfy...but their milkshakes are OK.
And Aesis is a lovely name.
But where is The Point?

Now that the quarter is drawing to a close, my beloved kitchen/dining area has become The War Room. My table is piled high with books, coffee/tea mugs, notebooks and random sheets of paper, and cigarette packs. I don't really do desks, it seems. I went out for breakfast this morning, but since then, aside from brief forays into internet or nintendo world, I've been working...

I think we all need a moment to despair, dear friends. But then we've got to get back up and get to work. There is much to be done. Life goes on. I, for instance, have a shitload of schoolwork to do, and a fair amount of extra-curricular fun to have, and I don't...

oh yes, i thought you would like this pic

When I arrived home from class today, I found a box waiting for me. Inside this box were two dvds - True Lies, and Pumping Iron, Collector's Edition.
SEAN IS THE GREATEST FRIEND EVER.
Unfortunately, the only person I know who would be as excited as I am about watching these fine films (particularly Pumping Iron) is far, far away. I miss him.

You must tell me everything.
I think I figured out something big. I can't solve the puzzle, but that's because I don't have all the pieces. But I made some serious progress on my part, I think. And now that I have a more substantial chunk to work with, maybe we can start putting some bigger shit together.
Heh heh. In other words, I really need to get laid. And...

We'd be more creative and verbose and talkative were it the case that we had a lot less booze/etc. in our blood than we do. Goodnight, and God Bless.

oh man, i totally partied like a rockstar last night, it was great. went to a bar, where dan stomped me at pacman - he's ridiculously good - then went to a party, which turned out to be way lame, and where colie almost started trouble because she thought that this guy was being rude to me (i mean, he kind of was, but whatever)....

happy halloween! and yeah, the movie actually involves both a train and a bus, oddly enough. the train almost hits a kid in the car, and then while one of them is freaking out, a chain from underneath one of the cars kicks up a sharp piece of metal that flies out and decapitates him (well, im not sure if its techinically decapitation if his head is cut off above the mouth, but whatever). and then there is a bus that crushes a girl who blindly turns out into the street. its just so good.
My Boise friends are Jesselyn H. and Ann Y. (It seems only polite to leaver their last names a mystery to the public.) Good kids.
Enjoy the District.
