Swimming is awesome, and so are rebellious Mennonites. Creative writing is ok, but not as great as a two week seminar on the theoretical quandaries raised on autobiography would have been. Smuggling coffee out of dining halls is glorious, as are ridiculously long treks to buy cigarettes when the sun is shining and there's a nice breeze out.

Maybe not summer school, as it looks like I'll be out of town for a chunk of it -good thing I hadn't paid for it yet, huh? I'll be back in town on August 12th (I leave on the 7th), so you may want to delay your arrival slightly. Also, when I say I have a summer job I mean I'm hoping to find one that's not absolutely awful. But we'll see.

The paper is almost done - all it needs now is a dazzling conclusion. If you're curious, I'm writing on redemption and meaning in Tadeusz Borowski's stories. I'm not wild about the English translation of his works, and stories about Auschwitz are not exactly light reading, but nonetheless, I urge you all to read the book - it's incredible writing.
There are times when I love being a grad student and feel totally certain that what I'm doing is interesting and worthwhile, but right now is not one of them.

well i dont know about you but im about ready for a familly renunion .. you know for those of us that can afford to take time off and see each other... say someplace like Italy... ponder on it would ya.. maybe england.. dunno as soon as i go to work ill be looking into a bit of traveling to ease the tention of being responsible by spending money and i figure, HEY!! i know this chick whom i consider to be "worldly" and i havent seen her in ohh 2 fucking years.. hugs
