Alright, so I thought I'd give all you guys just a little sliver of my life.

Here's my photodocumentary on what is called "BruinWalk" or as I know it... The Gauntlet.

This is what one sees as they are walking through--what is undisputably--the main pedestrian artery of campus. This is a shot of what one would see if they are going to class from the dorms. But before they get through class, they must face several thousand different organizations trying to recruit, persuade, and get money from all the pedestrians that walk through here.

I was able to pull myself out of the sea of hapless students and get aboard a table, which gives me a better vantage point of the carnage that will unfold. Notice the matching t-shirts of group members. This instills a sense of community and togetherness (...and fear).

Here I am in the thick of things, I've been attacked with flyers, assaulted with petition-clipboards, and even solicited for a "free" subway sandwich (yeah, if you want to give 'em your SSN and stuff).

The steps of Kerckhoff provide sanctuary for those wishing to avoid the maze of petitioners and religious groups, also Asians. [This is not a racist comment, but UCLA is very clique-ish, so people of the same race hang out with each other, they even have clubs for it. If you're wondering what it is for white people, they're called "fraternities" and "sororities" -ed]. You can see the train of fresh-meat as they make their way to classes on the way from the dorms and the apartments.

Not only must one dodge other members of the student body, but other obstacles, like sandwichboards, or--recently--reinforced PVC frames with laminated posters swinging from them.

There are two other ways to get from the dorms and the apartments to campus, one for north campus, and one for south. But most freshmen are led lemming-like through the middle route which--as one can see--is much more dangerous than venturing off the main road.

Wow! We made it. We're at the top. Now, notice: there are four flights of stairs that one has to combat after facing all the other group-oriented obstacles. It makes for a physically--as well as mentally--challenging ordeal that makes me glad that I know the back route to south campus.

Enjoy all.

Yeah, my brother invited me to L.A. for Thanksgiving, and I almost accepted just so i could avoid all the parties I'm going to be obligated to have (he, Carly would have been pissed smile ). But then I remembered I invited Patricia and John to our house. Oh well...
