Two words: Tort reform.

Seriously, all these lawsuits about medical malpractice and "unknown side effects" and protecting one's self from their own stupidity has to stop.

I was reading a Yahoo! news story about how the antidepressant Paxil apparently increases suicidal tendencies in children. and Glaxo lied about clinical trials. This is retarded. A girl apparently had cancer in her senior year of High School, was really depressed and wound down, so they prescribed Paxil to her. She was doing fine on 15mg doses but they bumped up her dosage and then apparently she went all crazy and tried to commit suicide.

Is that the drug's fault? Should they've expected normalcy when one fucks with body-chemistry? God.

Oh well

Like Venice wrote: On Sunday, we went to a firing range and shot handguns for the first time. What a blast (literally and metaphorically). It was really good to get out and just fire off some rounds. Guns don't seem that bad anymore, just as long as proper control is maintained.

We went to Chang's afterwards, but they were closed, so we had to kill two hours (in suburbia, nuhhhh) I think we managed, and then we fulfilled another primal urge and stuffed ourselves silly.

We went to watch fire dancers underneath the Hawthorne Bridge (every 1st and 3rd Sunday at nightfall) What an impressive sight. It makes me happy to have people like that exist, and also the space and time provided by Portland to let them do it.
