This is the photograph after approximately 12 layers of coloration and a specific square crop. Every photograph I work on receives individual attention. I never use a template or action set in Photoshop unless I am repeating a watermark. I prefer to use a Wacom Intuos pen & tablet to digitally paint, re-touch, or color a photo. It gives me the pleasure of painting, without all the dirty work.

The photograph itself, during my selection process, has to have movement and emotion. I typically shoot one thousand photographs a week. Many of them are duplicates of the same pose and angle to ensure that I have the correct focus. Out of a batch of nearly 500 photographs of one individual, I hope to receive 5-6 absolutely solid shots. Some images sit on the shelf for months and then I revisit them to try new techniques in editing.
