I take my kayak

To the

Lake

Early morning

Headed

For the dam…

A silver mist

Rises up

Over everything

Cattle offstage

Lowing…

I dip my paddle

Into the

Placid water

Relishing this time

Before

The speed boats

And the skiers…

Overhead

One monument

A dead log

Stuck high

In the fork of a tree

It was warm and now

It is cold.

The trees are white

With blossoms

The ground is white

With snow

Ohio weather in a nutshell

April Fools

As a month-long show…

I wish I was in Florianopolis

Though it's almost winter there

With some beauty

Whose smile never wavers

Pretty sure

She would keep me warm.
