completed my first day on the job. quite interesting when the terms used include "client" and "empower" and "maintain the family" and such. plus found out that there is a special unit for sexual abuse and severe (disfiguring or permanent injury) abuse. that I won't be a part of. so I am sheltered.

started week 3 at the gym. the Physical Trainer left and Planet...

well, did perhaps too much for a work out today.

hit the treadmill....decided to keep the incline at 0.0. means for me that I have to increase the speed. so I put it at 5.0 mph for 45 minutes....yeah, its a run/jog for me. damn near got sick from dehydrating myself. and that included going through at least 20 ounces of a sports drink (generic...

avoid the sports drink on runs that long and stick to water. You only want to bring out the sports drinks on runs over an hour and even then sparingly. I would only pull them out on runs an hour and a half and up. The problem with sports drink is they have lots of sugar and your body really doesn't need that sugar until longer distances.

so Monday starts the new job. as I look more at the job description, I almost kind of chuckle.

its an 8 hour work day with a 1 hour unpaid lunch (7 hours).

that includes 2 paid 15 minute breaks....so now down to 6 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week.....

so full-time pay while (technically) working 32.5 hours a week!

sweet....although given the...

woke up today, computer is off....odd.

go to turn it on, no power.

oh well.....after about 6 years or so.....guess the power supply gave out. since I pretty much run my computer constantly.

new power supply, we're back in business.

Good deal. And running it constantly is actually usually best for longevity - no power and temp cycling.

No Justin Bieber. No 80s boy band dudes.

I would have said no right from the start if it was.

winding down week 2 of my gym membership, still going to the gym on a (somewhat) regular basis....that is, I'm going 5 to 6 days a week and sticking with what the trainer guy at the gym recommended as a starting program for me. I've tinkered some with the amount of weight I use for the exercises (gone up on a few of them) as...

15 mile drive for a four hour shift? Urgh. Hope you find something better.

Good thing you're working out though. I need to start doing that.
aepaul:
Thanks.

Yeah, it will take awhile.

did some cardio today (15 on treadmill and 10 on elliptical). getting an idea of where my settings should be.

tomorrow learn the "full body" work out routine.

must keep motivated....stress management and get in better shape. maybe attract a hottie or two!

and damn ellipticals kick...

Exercise is a great form of stress management.

Does smacking them in the head with a brick count? I'm just about to that point.

just posted this on Facebook, want your opinion....

Justin Bieber starts a fight with you....do you

A. take a "beating" (as much as he can administer at least) and file police charges so you can sue his ass, knowing you will have to live the rest of your life with admitting in court that Justin Bieber beat your ass...

or

B. beat his ass for...

did the fingerprinting and background check yesterday. Thursday was the drug test. now its waiting for everything to clear and be "officially" hired. even listed on the County website as permanent appointment.

I will say, since job searching started in 2007, it is nice to wake up and go to myself "Hey, got a job!" and not have to worry about anything. and the County...
