I have now decided my older sister is the kiss of death for cars. she has "borrowed" my car since November 3rd (with a few hours of break on the 9th before her car acted up again). when she borrowed it, as my neighbor said, it was "in damn good shape" (we do the work on the car....considering he's replaced a clutch before, think he knows what he's talking about).

now, this weekend, my sister and her boyfriend are looking at getting the following repairs to my car...

transmission seal or torque converter (the transmission, BTW, was replaced about 3 years ago)
front support piece (that rusted through according to this guy)

also told that my front brakes were bad (mind you, changed them at 80,000 miles with premium pads and rotors, and the car had 98,500 miles on it when they first borrowed it) and a ball bearing (changed the front wheel bearings around 80,000 miles, changed on rear bearing as well).

all I am interested in paying for is a new timing belt/water pump. it needs replacing, and it was my plan to replace it anyways.

got a strong feeling my sister is going to say "None of this is our fault, and we paid for an inspection and oil change." hopefully the person doing the work gives them a premium on the work. and if she pulls the entire "I'm not paying for it since it wasn't my fault," the repercussions will soon follow as...

1. don't bother asking to borrow another vehicle again. my mom also stated that this means no borrowing her Jeep. catch me once, shame on you. catch me twice, shame on me.

2. as far as I'm concerned, any requests for me to do anything for her will result in a "No." don't care. she can pull a "all the times we moved you," and I can respond with "You had my car over 14 weeks. during that time, you blew a tire, had a transmission fluid leak and kept driving the car, and a host of other issues. all I asked was an oil change that came due after you put thousands of miles on my car despite living within 2 miles of where you work and an inspection because it came due during the 3+ months you had my car. we're even!" if she pushes, it will result in the statement "I was the one paying the car insurance on the car you had. find out how much it would have cost you to rent a car for 14 to 15 weeks, and take into consideration your credit when finding this out!" and see what she says.

so how is your family?

Sounds like she's either riding the brakes down hills or slamming it to the floor. Maybe both.
