so decided today that I would wake up early to get a call for subbing...and nothing. bastards. my phone is not ringing off the hook, so no call this week. major bummer, since I was called twice last week, and not feeling so hot, did not go in (its an automated system, so I replied with a no, and illness for the reason). after getting the call, went back to sleep to take a nap and hopefully feel better.
now today, ready to go. all showered and everything. and here I sit. major bummer. even better, wicked insomnia I fell asleep around 11:30 PM, only to wake up around 2:30 AM. tried going back to sleep, finally started to drift off just in time for the alarm to go off!
well, tomorrow I get to wake up early and work at Wegmans (Maintenance again, the full-time guy is off). and then Saturday is nothing. Sunday is a birthday party (my cousin's son turns 8, I bought him a dry-erase activity center thing....figure he could use it for school work and such) and the start of the overnight shifts for me.
funny, the full-time overnight cashier (who, BTW, is considered the laziest employee at my store by the previous overnight cashier...how did she put it? hates hearing him diss me and say I don't work when I was, in her words, "awesome" and then she said all she sees him do is walk around and flirt with girls) said he worked through all the candy last week in four days. well, since Saturday night, I have to put together newspapers, I lose a few hours of working through the candy. with Sunday and Monday night, though, probably got through about 75% or so. so he can do in four days what might take me 3 days. and I'm pretty sure there was stuff he didn't touch.
yup, he rules. I so need a new job. between a quasi-manager (age 20) lecturing me about how drinking is good for you (she constantly quotes the "Drinking a glass of wine is good for you." yes...but going out 3 nights a week and getting hammered is not. wait, she says she doesn't do that, she drinks but not to the point of losing control. so I mention the "2 drinks a night" rule and she replies "You can not go out and only have 2 drinks." whatever....also the same person who reduced her availability over the summer when she is not in school....because she needs more nights to go to the bars and clubs) and her feeling that alcoholism is not genetic at all (hmmm....think I've done research....after all, my grandfathers were both alcoholic and one of my uncles died from complications due to alcoholism) and co-workers not doing their job and people talking trash, its annoying. and not one will get fired....so far, I've determined three ways only to get fired from my employer...
1. no call no show three straight shifts
2. get caught stealing
3. racial harassment. sexual harassment will get you a week suspension, but we did have one person fired for making a semi-racist comment
whatever...it is amazing sometimes how well Wegmans actually does. then again, always got to eat!
rant done...how's your day going?
