wow....five blogs in five days. a new record for me.
not much to speak of. its gone from warm for the season to freeze your balls off in about 4 days where I live. from in the 40's F (we're talking 4.4 C or higher) to 8 F (-13.3 C). one of the advantages of living on the shores of one of the Great Lakes....the fun weather patterns!
my sleeping has taken a turn for, I don't know. I have actually been sleeping for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time....which is good. now, though, I'm falling asleep at what would be considered a reasonable hour (say 1 AM) and sleeping for 7 to 9 hours. which is nice...but I miss my SG US's and Geezer chat and V&E fun! which kind of bites!
finally fixed a computer yesterday. co-worker of mine, unknowingly, downloaded Personal Security and PC Security 2009 onto her computer. heinous, evil little programs. with some creative thinking and suggestions here (thank you MDF....malwarebytes worked great!), I got the damn thing off. went into the start-up sequence (via msconfig) and stopped Personal Security from starting up when the computer starts. used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware program. ran that on her computer....it found about 50 things (the night before, Spybot Search and Destroy found 60 things). cleaned up her computer and put on some free anti-virus software and spyware software. and then made a folder on her desktop "Computer Upkeep" where I put the short-cuts to everything and a text document listing what each program does, how to run it, and how often to run it. that includes Windows Update. so here's hoping she gets years of good use out of her computer (her and her daughter....the daughter's father she recently broke up with....the guy doesn't hold a consistent job because all he wants to do is smoke pot and play video games....and work interferes with that).
then put in some door stops at my cousin's house. one in each bedroom and one for the front door. all the other doors remaining don't need one (towel racks, coat racks, and such do the job). he's slowly fixing things up one month at a time where his estranged wife managed to screw things up (bad painting, not removing wall paper correctly, not using the proper heating vents and such). which means I get to do home improvements because he's got enough skills to hammer something in (and that's about it).
so now time to get ready for the day. take a shower, try not to freeze my nuts off. maybe shovel the driveway (or snow blow the damn thing). at least hit the steps. do some laundry and get ready to work tomorrow. update my resume (hey, I subbed one day, it counts, right?) and start the job searching again. the current Governor of New York wants to cut aid to schools even more. districts where expecting a 5% cut...he's proposing 10% cut. same guy who last year took Federal money and found a way to put it in the hands of those on Welfare. nice, huh? never elected Governor of the state (he took over at Spitzer resigned due to scandal) and, well, has managed to get the lowest approval rating I've seen in quite some time. way to go! so not expecting much out of job searching. push comes to shove, still looking at the Civil Service Exam for Probation. I think I should be able to get in there. well, unless he deems it unnecessary to fund those programs as well. and he might (said Governor wanted a law where Police Officers were mandated to shoot to wound and a special manslaughter charge that would apply if a Police Officer shot and killed someone in the line of duty...whatever).
and do laundry today (might even put it away) and hopefully be awake to enjoy a Friday night in Geezer chat here (or V&E chat). so what are you up to this week?
