one way not to instill a sense of company loyalty in someone...take a person who comes in whenever you call him and willing to work whatever hours and quite flexible...and then cut his hours down to 20 hours the week before Christmas, while everyone else (especially brand new hires) has close to 30 hours that week.
way to go Wegmans...what a way to reward employer loyalty!
in other news...I had my meeting today to flill out all my paperwork...so glad I worked last year as a long-term sub and got into the Teacher Retirement System.
I am tier 4...I can retire at age 55 and I only pay into the system (3%) for 10 years.
anyone starting on January 1st, 2010 is going into tier 5....they get to pay 3% of their salary into the system for life, and if they retire before age 58, get a 30% penalty.
nice!
