hey there.....go to Rover's Morning Glory website and read about his planned protest of the Westboro "Baptist" Church's protest at a fallen Marine's funeral tomorrow. this "Church" is the one that goes to the funerals of fallen military personnel and protest, under the guise that since the United States no longer is a homophobic country, God is killing our military personnel. you know, the ones that say that the person was killed because "God hates fags" and such.
Rover read about the Marine, a person local to his home station's area, and got his programming manager to change things up. the fallen Marine loved a country song. so the main station he works for will be playing the Marine's favorite song from about 10:30 AM (when they figure the protest will begin) through his funeral...so people can surround this "church" and blast this Marine's favorite song to drown out thier protest.
and why is Rover doing this? he feels its the right thing to do....no commercials, no acknowledgement. just the right thing to do.
and yes, I am Baptist (non-practicing) and no I do not agree with these people (the Westboro people). in fact, I do believe the Baptist community does not associate with them. Westboro can operate under the guise of a Baptist Church, though, due to the independent nature of the Baptist denomination.
so if you have friends in the Cleveland area, join in the protest. at the very least, read about everything!
thanks!
