yeah, my last post, okay, I was half asleep and quite cold. you see, my room is above the UNHEATED garage and the coldness comes up through the floor. add to that windows facing west and north only, and my room can get chilly. so guessing my brain wasn't fully functioning then!
tomorrow, I do a "chat" for 10 to 15 minutes on the phone (dare I say, phone interview?) for Eckerd Youth Alternatives. I applied for a positon there a few weeks ago, and last week got an e-mail saying "Hey, I looked at your resume, you look like someone we're interested in, when is a good time to call?"
if I get the job, I'm looking at....
low pay (less than $24,000 a year)
FREE housing
FREE food (for 5 days a week)
and possibility of relocaiton assistance.
I'll take it.
the program? working with troubled youth in an alternative setting. aka....JOB EXPERIENCE. since the f*ckers here seem to constantly reject me based solely on that.
and more importantly, it gets me out of New York state. Governor "Blind as a Bat' Patterson wants to cut an additional $400+ Million from school aid this year....that's right, 1/2 way through the year. this, the same man who took $140 million of Federal Aid money for his "Back To School Grants"....I have complained about this before. his grant program...
*give $200 per child to anyone on welfare as a cash benefit (aka, they can withdraw the money and use it on anything)
*the only requirement is the child has to be between the age of 3 and 17
that's about all that he had planned out for his program...make sense? not to me, at least.
and oddly enough...state aid to cities OTHER THAN New York City would be cut. is New York City so special that its exempt? guess so.
yeah...I need to leave this state. really I do. kind of sucks that I was born and raised here, even have ancestorial land here (before you ask...my Great Grandmother was a member of the Seneca nation...part of the Iroquois League that ruled this area before Columbus and such came over)...and its rapidly becoming a state no one will want to live in. education here seems to almost be a racket....if you don't know someone to get you in, good luck finding a job. money is spent on, well, who knows what. and is there a reason why people move here, besides to get better welfare benefits? not sure.
so that's about all...I'm going to sleep soon. hopefully after tomorrow, my next blog will be happier. like possibly moving to someplace like, oh, New Hampshire or Vermont. or Virginia or North Carolina. someplace better than here. yeah, I leave New York State....I'll leave with a bitter taste in my mouth. and it kind of sucks to think of things that way, but its what is happening here.

The bottom line is you need the experience ... nobody will hire you for a better job untill you have that experience. So take it as a foot in the door to something better.
