well, it was a most interesting day today.
first off, I had to work outside. nice tan. 5 1/2 hours of walking. and one of the most surreal incidents ever. I'll get to that later.
I received in the mail today my certificate from the New York State Education Department. I now have my certificate showing that I am provisionally certified in New York State as a School Counselor for the next five years. I work for 3 years and get tenured, I can then apply for Permanent Certification. yay!
and found out that, instead of $600 from this economic stimulus package, I am getting $300. odd, I had a taxable income under $7000 in 2007. so what are they basing the amounts on? and who gets the $600? big question.
and now, the surreal incident.
I was pushing carts with Greg, the full-time Helping Hands person. this redneck-type guy (t-shirt with his gut hanging out and sweatpants) comes to us and goes "Have you noticed that you have a lot of n****** in this store?"
I look at him and go "Dunno, whatever" or something like that and walk away.
then Greg and I looked at each other and were "He really said that, didn't he? damn!"
who do we complain to regarding customers? good question!
my STL (Dee, who happens to be African American) was on. I told the one STL, Tony. he let Dee know. it was funny in some ways. the sheer fact that I won't say that word. she asked "My people or yours?" I told her "He used the racist remark that begins with an 'N' that I will not say." we agreed, that guy sucked.
and we figure next time we'll let the customer talk to Dee. and I want to watch. since she will go off on him.
