and the webpage is done. for those on my friends list, you can go back an entry or so and find the link. those not on my friends list that want to see, do a friend request. pretty easy, huh?
basically I have 2 webpages, one "personal" and one "professional". these past few days, I totally re-did the "professional" page, using Microsoft Publisher. there is the main page (what you link to), a page where I posted my resume (minus home address and phone number), a page where I talk about my interests, a page where I talk about my career aspirations, and a page where I have posted various publications I have completed.
the hope is some of these jobs actually look at the page and like what they see. the clean, crisp layout. more importantly, reading over a Resident Assistant Manual I re-wrote or taking a look at the various brochures I have done. in fact, an ex-co-worker of mine needed some major help designing a brochure (her design was, for lack of a better word, hideous), so I created for her a new brochure and she likes it. same ex-co-worker that, well, it would be great if she was interested in me, I think things would be wonderful between us, but alas, she is about an hour away. plus, I'm an extreme Introvert (last inventory I took had me, well, all the way on the introvert side) and she's an extrovert. but that could make things interesting. her face isn't the prettiest. but she takes care of herself and has a great personality that more than makes up for any possible physical flaws. seriously!
outside of that, did some cleaning/re-arranging of my room today (vacuuming, "dusting", all that fun stuff....re-arranged some book shelves to fit all my books in and put away CD's and DVD's I just bought and/or had taken out but not put back in its place). took all afternoon pretty much. not too bad. feels good to be productive sometimes, you know.
besides, it was my "weekend"....I didn't work the past few days. only 28 hours this past week...then again, as a part-timer, where others are getting 10 to 14 hours, I'm not complaining!
and been kind of bummed in the entire job search thing. see, I could finish up my degree and be done with everything in December. however, I'm not really "feeling" it, if you catch what I mean. I kind of have that itch to get out of the house and back to work, full-time, again. its odd, in some ways, I spent the past 2 years (and about $36,000 in loans) learning how to balance my life. and now I want out!
what am I looking at? it would be wicked nice to get a Res Life job where I can branch out. see, of the 5 years I worked in Res Life, only 1 year was that an opportunity for me. the first year I was too busy learning the job (and trying not to go nuts). the second through fourth year, well, the Director there could never be accused of good personnel resource management. and nothing for professional development. only the last year in Res Life did I get a chance to do something. albeit, not a ton, but something. re-wrote some manuals, on a committee (I was recommended by someone else, actually...she felt I had a lot of great ideas), stuff like that. my hope is to get into an office where this is the case, so I can work on gaining the skills necessary to leave the entry level position of Resident Director and move into an Assistant or Associate Director's role, where I can focus on some of my interests in Res Life. plus more money and I get to move off campus! what more could you ask, right?
so we shall see. we shall see.
and also bummed lately by a former one of my favorite wrestlers that, it seems, over this weekend snapped, killed his wife and his son (who suffered from Fragile X Syndrome) then hung himself. the twisted part is that the time line has him killing his wife on a Friday or Saturday, his son a day or so later, and then himself on a Monday. truly sad and truly sick in so many ways!
and then poor Vince McMahon, getting bashed for a tribute show when he didn't know the details. he had about 5 1/2 hours before a live, 3-hour TV broadcast. he canceled the live show (sending all the fans home) and did the tribute show. and people are bashing him for doing this, saying "He should have waited for all the details to come out." the next day, another show, Vince McMahon made another statement about how the previous 3 hour show was a tribute show, however, now 26 hours later, knowing what he knows, this show is going to be about those affected by the tragedy and that the wrestler's name would not be mentioned for the remainder of the broadcast.
people going to bash him for that too?
