well, I saw the psychiatrist today. the nice part is, well, honestly, this visit cost me NOTHING. the college I attend picks up the first bill, so that's good.
I was there for an hour to an hour and a half. the entire "intake" time. the psychiatrist said to me at the end "I have to tell you, aside from vets I have worked with that have seen their best friend head shot off next to them, you have experienced the most loss of anyone I have met with."
my loss tally (and year):
Grandfather (both) in 1988
Grandmother in 1989
Grandmother in 1990
Great Uncle (starting to hand out with more) in 1991
Uncle in 2000
Uncle in 2004
plus various other great uncles and great aunts
plus (now ex) girlfriend miscarrying (possibly) in 1994
resident of mine dying in a car crash in 2004
doesn't seem that bad, but who knows. never talked about it, so I guess it builds up!
he diagnosed me with suffering from "late on-set PTSD". nice, huh?
and now I'm a part of the, um, I guess the Lexapro Nation. he gave me 28 days worth of Lexapro, at 10 mg each pill. he said minimal to no side effects, so if it makes me feel better, great.
and recommended a grief group of some kind, to help me simply talk and get things out.
nice, huh?
so how is everyone else's week going?
