well, Friday, I get to run register for the first time since training (excluding about 10 minutes when they were busy). oh how it shall be interesting.
people that I work with tell me "No problem, don't worry about it, you'll do fine." it is a good thing that if I have a question, all I have to do is flash my light and a manager or someone will be there to answer the question for me.
however, there are some things I'm worried about.
1. my shift is noon to 5 PM. meaning I'll be seeing lots of old people. not too bad. except some get on my nerves. old people like paper bags, or even better, paper in plastic (keep in mind, I do believe that the paper bags are BIGGER than plastic bags, and the registers are not set-up to use the paper bags). pain in the butt!
2. people try to put coupons through that they didn't buy the product for....annoying!
3. I'm an introvert. I usually have enough trouble as it is dealing with people for extended periods of time without getting frustrated at them. for what I usually do (pushing carts), I tend ot migrate towards someone I enjoy talking with (perhaps one of the cuter females) to make the time go by, and dodge everyone else! however, when I'm forced to deal with a large group of people for an extended period of time, I get tired out quite easily and fast. meaning that this shift has great potential to reduce me to the status of "babbling idiot" as I get so tired out, I'm barely functioning.
4. I hold high standards for myself. they want 16 items per minute. I'm at 13. I want to be at 16. so I get to push myself to be faster.
all that said and done, lets hope the shift flies by and isn't too bad! and that I get nice people coming through my line, not bitchy ones!
and Thursday, yeah, I'm relaxing and "building up" my reserves. to make things (hopefully) easier on me!
so wish me luck....I'll post how things went after I get out of work!
laters!
