so there's 20 minutes left in my shift today, when Amanda (co-worker) and I see a cop pull someone over in the parking lot (the far back corner). except the individual gets out of his car.
interesting.
then we see another car. and another car. they're closing off a part of the lot. hey, there's a K-9 unit!
now its got my attention!
we walk towards the front of the building, to tell a manager, when we see one outside. okay, time to take a look.
we never got closer than about 10 car lengths or so. sorry, we were too chicken shit when we saw the cop walk towards the situation with his SHOTGUN!
we ran back to the side of our building to look at the situation. I realized "Shit, I'm wearing a bright orange vest with reflective yellow stripes!" during this time.
such events occurred as the individual SURROUNDED by police officers, weapons drawn. gun fire. all that stuff!
then an ambulance. I don't think officers were harmed. and he was warned!
this all occurred in about 15 minutes. no idea fully of what occurred, waiting for the news to post it (I'll post a link if I find one).
the police were all county sherriffs, by the way!
so I called my sister, her boyfriend has a scanner (he's also has the personal cell number for the chief of police for his town). she said the call went over "Contact Wegmans and Toys R Us, tell them to get everyone inside, close up, and get away from the front of the store." whoa....
seriously.
well, Wegmans never got that call. not that it would have mattered. people evidentally failed to notice the squad of flashing lights in the parking lot, trying to go down the lanes the police closed off. dumb asses! or trying to go to their car....um, when I see police with guns drawn, I go the other way!
and so how was your day?
addendum 4/15/06:
found out what happened. the guy was dumped. he followed his ex in his car. she called 911. they cornered him. he had a knife to his own throat. they subdued him with pepper spray and he got a nice trip to a psych unit somewhere.
and I thought it was going to be something good!
