weekend update of the funness I call life:
Saturday was the Lennon and Shannon Curfman show in Buffalo. yes, I wore my new SG t-shirt. Lennon commented on it. also, 3 people who I saw last time around (in May), one of which took my picture with Lennon, were there. the girl recognized me. I was impressed, since I've grown a goatee and changed my hair cut since then. so that was cool.
Sunday was the Adventure in Babysitting. not quite so bad in the beginning. 1 year old and 3 1/2 year old, both with ear infections. I make them dinner around 7 (their usual time), change a diaper, and such. the 1 year old fell asleep around 8. but I kept on smelling crap. couldn't figure out why. here's why:
the 3 1/2 year old decided to take a nice dump in his pants. mind you, he's fully potty trained. no idea why. I find the steamy surprise, and figure I'll be quiet and calm about it, get a change of clothes, clean him up, no big deal. well, he has other ideas.
since the preverbial cat was out of the bad, he has to up the ante. he proceeds to stand on the couch, whilst I'm getting the bathroom door open, take off his pants and underwear, gazelle-style leap to the top of the couch, and leave a poop streak down the couch. this is followed by me picking him up into the bathroom, where I notice the crap on his legs, feet, hands, and arms. I yell at him sternly to "stand there" while I get babywipes. a whole slew of baby wipes later ,and some other stuff (paper towels and toilet paper), I think I have it all off. I also get to clean the couch up some (Resolve), as well as blanket and pillow (little specks). I toss the underwear (it was a load, I tell you! he saved it up for a few days I think....
) and throw the rest of the clothes in the washing machine (since they are all slightly containminated by his streakiness). whilst doing this, the 1 year old is snoozing away (thank God, I'm alone in this adventure), and the 3 1/2 year old is sitting in the corner, as "time out". I get this done, and realize that I might not have him totally clean, so upstairs for a fast bath. I change his clothes, and he gets a choice:
1. go to bed now
2. sit on the stairs (his ultimate time-out) until his parents come home.
crying that he doesn't want to go to bed, he chooses the stairs. this is at 9:20.
10:00 rolls around, the 1 year old wakes up. give him a bottle, he's good to go. I sporadically check on the other one. he's still on the stairs. he's falling asleep there, so I tell him either top of the stairs (and how surprised would he be to wake up in his bed after this) or go to bed. nope, he's sitting.
around 10:30 to 11:00, my cousin and his wife get home. first off, I ask "Who will NOT hit him for this one?" and then explain everything to him. the 3 1/2 year old gets to leave the steps to sit on the couch. some medicine, and he's out.
I did get compliments for cleaning the couch up nicely (couldn't tell), and I do state that I wish for hazard pay for this one (mind you, no pay for this babysitting experience!)
we (cousin, his wife, and I) proceed to watch a damn good episode of Grey's Anatomy. which ends with the main character with her hand in a guy's chest, holding onto an unexploded live artillery shell in an operating room. cool!
after Grey's, I then get a call from my sister. my "uncle" (step-father's brother, who treats me like a nephew, so he's a honorary uncle if you ask me) did not come over, and is not answering the phone. his wife, who is in Chicago now (he is retiring soon and will be joining her, their one son, and 2 grandchildren out there when he does) can not get a hold of him (on his cell phone). he's a big guy, and heart disease is a concern (he had a cholesteral score in the mid-400's recently, and is diabetic). so we rush over there.
to find out, he watched the game at home and then crashed, and his cell phone battery died. he did wake up, before we broke in and called 911.
mind you, the last time we had a disappearance or anything like this lead to the worse day of my life (even worse then a fight with then girlfriend, family, and being told said girlfriend, now an ex, miscarried, when I was 18!), as we found out the next day that my uncle (and father of said cousin with the 3 1/2 year old) had committed suicide. yeah, that sucked!
now that was fun as well! NOT! thankfully this uncle was okay!
but, the weekend was good, since Lennon put on such a good show! seriously, people, if she plays in your area, go see her. could be just her and keyboards. could be a hard and heavy rock show. when she's done, she'll be signing stuff and taking pictures with you. what else could you ask for?
and how was your weekend?
