so Happy Mother's Day all....or as I see it, Happy My Only Parent Day.

so today started with 5 1/2 hours of work. got home, started laundry and hung a new set of blinds for my room (the windows were replaced on Saturday and I did not want to go back to the institutional white blinds that were up). I now have black blinds in...

well, three weeks almost down at the job. still lots and lots of information to learn. but I'm getting there!

signed up for all my benefits this week...kind of. I might be in the Tier IV retirement plan instead of Tier VI. what does that mean? I can retire at an earlier age if I so choose. and more importantly (since you get a pension),...

just cleaned out my closet some.....giving about 8 to 10 of my work shirts (Wegmans) to my older sister (who just started at Wegmans). I am keeping 3 shirts total. if I end up running out, then Wegmans is doing something wrong (since I'm available 2 days a week only).

2nd week done.....lots of classroom training. we're talking "Risk Assessments" and "Safety Plans" and "18...

well, car is in the shop....pretty sure its the back wheel bearings. considering that the one bearing is original (2002 Neon with over 100,000 miles on it), I won't complain. plus knew it was going bad.

see how much this will cost me.

did play Heroclix on Saturday....went 1-2. when you get shit dice rolls (IE, you roll 2 dice and need 5 or higher...

one week down. kind of funny, its seems so different than what you learn in education classes. you hear the worst case scenarios in these classes. and from what i see, its more of "how can I help this family succeed?" as a model instead of "separate the family" as a model.

give me a few weeks, let me see the nitty gritty and go...

Real world application is a whole different thing. My cousin does this in PA. She's run in to some weird shit.

completed my first day on the job. quite interesting when the terms used include "client" and "empower" and "maintain the family" and such. plus found out that there is a special unit for sexual abuse and severe (disfiguring or permanent injury) abuse. that I won't be a part of. so I am sheltered.

started week 3 at the gym. the Physical Trainer left and Planet...

well, did perhaps too much for a work out today.

hit the treadmill....decided to keep the incline at 0.0. means for me that I have to increase the speed. so I put it at 5.0 mph for 45 minutes....yeah, its a run/jog for me. damn near got sick from dehydrating myself. and that included going through at least 20 ounces of a sports drink (generic...

avoid the sports drink on runs that long and stick to water. You only want to bring out the sports drinks on runs over an hour and even then sparingly. I would only pull them out on runs an hour and a half and up. The problem with sports drink is they have lots of sugar and your body really doesn't need that sugar until longer distances.

so Monday starts the new job. as I look more at the job description, I almost kind of chuckle.

its an 8 hour work day with a 1 hour unpaid lunch (7 hours).

that includes 2 paid 15 minute breaks....so now down to 6 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week.....

so full-time pay while (technically) working 32.5 hours a week!

sweet....although given the...

woke up today, computer is off....odd.

go to turn it on, no power.

fuck.

oh well.....after about 6 years or so.....guess the power supply gave out. since I pretty much run my computer constantly.

new power supply, we're back in business.

Good deal. And running it constantly is actually usually best for longevity - no power and temp cycling.

No Justin Bieber. No 80s boy band dudes.

I would have said no right from the start if it was.

winding down week 2 of my gym membership, still going to the gym on a (somewhat) regular basis....that is, I'm going 5 to 6 days a week and sticking with what the trainer guy at the gym recommended as a starting program for me. I've tinkered some with the amount of weight I use for the exercises (gone up on a few of them) as...

15 mile drive for a four hour shift? Urgh. Hope you find something better.

Good thing you're working out though. I need to start doing that.

Thanks.

Yeah, it will take awhile.

well, in about 2 weeks, I hope to say good-bye to the crazy ass work schedule I have had for the past 6 years or so and start on a career instead of a job.

to give you a hint about what I mean....here's my work schedule the past week:

Sunday 11:30 PM to Monday 8:00 AM
Monday 11:30 PM to Tuesday 8:00 AM
Wednesday...
