hah, um, this is kind of a stupid poem type thing i wrote in shakespeare class. i'm just trying to sort of... inspire myself to do something better. don't think it'll work. you know how ani difranco has those little things she reads out loud? that's how this is supposed to be read.


imagination. imagine a nation
and we're tied to this carousel
with you and me and he and she
in violent reconciliation
maybe if we had never left
daddy's texas plantation
things would be just as well, or better
but nobody wants to be fate's debtor
i think the lust for power
is a definite motivator
in shakespeare's works.
and masculinity is a factor
in every disaster.
can you hear me?
can you act freely, without the FBI
knocking at your front door?
quoth the raven, "nevermore."
and i can't look out the window of my country
without the shadows of your lies covering my eyes,
and the hammer of your anger breaking the glass.
the father, the son, the everlasting word
pasting idle, shallow sentiments
on the propaganda board.
japan had it right. even if they didn't know.
reality's been dealt an ultimately fatal blow
and it doesn't matter how long it stays now
for the fight.
the bulb has been shattered
that would bring it to light.
