I’ve had the most productive month, I’ve started drawing, cooking and carpentry for a good cause and more. My weeks are filling up with stuff to do and it’s put me in a positive frame of mind. I finally feel like there’s meaning in my life.
It doesn’t stop there, I’m just getting started. This is a new chapter for me because I’m tired of doing nothing and wasting my precious time on Earth.
It’s presenting a new set of challenges, initially I wanted to fill my time with anything worthwhile, now the more I look around and the more opportunities I find, the more full my weekdays get and I have to start prioritising.
I’ve talked a bit about helping the homeless — that is such an important cause in this country, what with the housing crisis and homelessness being more rife than ever. A lot of people need help. I haven’t figured out yet what that help will entail, I could volunteer at Loaves n Fishes if they need me or I could keep an eye on Shelter’s campaigns. It’ll take more time than I expected.
I also want to do something about climate change. It’s probably the most important part of living in this world today. A lot of people are scared by it and they should be, but I don’t want to bury my head in the sand and wait until it’s too late like I have done so far. I’ve started recycling and saving energy where I can, but I want to make a real difference. I’m going to have to start small and just set an example for others, so I’m going to help clean up parks and urban areas with groups of volunteers who already do that.
My weekends are empty and I get bored. I want to find friends I can go out with to let off steam and have a bit of fun, meet new people, etc. It feels slow moving, I’m really impatient and want to change my life, but things definitely are changing.
