Drawing landscapes is helping me to heal my broken mind, I find it therapeutic and a way to channel my concentration into something productive. I was very anxious last night and drew the second picture and afterwards I felt better for a while and was able to get to sleep.
The first drawing was a quick doodle that took about five or ten minutes to demonstrate to my art tutor that my strongpoint is landscapes.
If my drawings have any abstract qualities at all, it’s subtlety. I’m developing a style, using the dynamic between chaos and serenity as a juxtaposition, for example where one hilltop is rough and jagged, another might be more smooth and aesthetically pleasing. Where one hill might loom besiegingly, another is flat and meadowy.
This wasn’t an accident, I was trying to communicate a sense of turmoil, where words have failed. I plan to continue drawing landscapes and other things until my style is perfected.
