Once I referred to a paragraph of a manuscript as prose. Someone corrected me saying prose is correctly used to describe stanzas of a poem (or the body of the text as a whole).
I used the word prose because I’d read renowned professionals use the word in the same context. I continue to use the word to describe books because I think it’s very apt.
Storytelling is basically the same as poetry. When I sit to write I use the same approach to how I imagine the words and manipulate language to my satisfaction, altering the way I feel as I write, provoking an apprehension of whatever I want to convey.
When I sit to write a poem, I do the same thing just in a more succinct way. During a poem, I say things in as a laconic way as possible;- when I write longer prose, my aim is to bring about a comprehensive and detailed imagos within the mind of the reader. In short, prose is prose no matter which format the words are in.
I want to make beautiful things.
