When the focus is on you and the evil eye of scrutiny is upon you, it can change a lot. It can change your thinking for instance.
You begin to question yourself in unfamiliar ways. You have to nail down everything; your beliefs, your senses. You have to remember what makes you who you are and how you make choices in life.
You have to be stubborn. You have to be resilient.
That’s something I’ve learned. Because in a hall of mirrors, it’s all too easy to get lost and forget who you are.
And if you lose conviction in what you’re doing, your spirit can break and that opens the door for all the bullies who want to take over and do evil things without taking responsibility for it. In the end, it may not be your fault, but it’s still you who takes the fall when things go wrong.
So if you want to live like that—be prepared! Don’t lose focus. Be yourself no matter what the haters say.
Having said that, most of my decisions were only ‘wrong’ because I lost credibility and therefore the love of the majority. So be careful.
