Happy Thanksgiving!
Gooble was a smashing success. I counted 57 people, but I am probably missing a couple of people that I've forgotten or that I just met.
Gadget's cheddar corn chowder was super tasty, and so was theb0y's garlic mashed potatoes. Nyssa and Tailin brought just enough of their awesome stuffing to stuff everyone. DodRaibeid's herb bread got overlooked and didn't quite make it around last night, but I had a chunk for lunch today and I'm bringing the rest of the loaf to my family dinner tonight. He said he emptied his whole spice cabinet into it and I believe him. It goes so nice with the chianti I'm trying to finish.
quietlythere brought many bottles and a guest, Sativa. He's got good taste! Sativa, sorry I didn't get to talk to you more but I hope you had a great time and I get to see you again!
There was a crazy cranberry sauce eating contest which I totally missed, in which TwoToner came a close second, I hear.
The peak of the party was packed like sardines in the main room... and as usual everyone wanted to hang out in the kitchen all the time even when me and Martin and Nyssa were basting and checking and carving the turkey. Nyssa is a turkey expert! After 1 or 2 am things wound down a bit and we chilled around til near 4am. The late bit is my favorite part of the party. It's not as frazzled as earlier, most of the drunks have passed out, and the remaining folks usually have some entertaining conversation. I love me some entertaining conversation.
Ok, so my family always has Thanksgiving dinner ridiculously late, so I have to get in the shower and get the heck over there. I really didn't have enough sleep last night. I took a nap after everyone left, but I had to get up to clean and make pie for tonight. Busy busy!
I talked to My Holly tonight. I really needed to talk to her about recent events. Sometimes I miss her so terribly I feel like I should move to Anchorage with her. She knows me better than anyone else in the world, I think. Last night's drama and trauma needed some Holly Feedback. Don't worry... drama and trauma are things I can handle. It's just nice to be able to discuss things with someone who knows what to say.
Hope everyone's nice and stuffed by now! Off to go eat a dead bird with my family.
