I took the day off of work yesterday to wait for people to come and replace my door.
They got here after work should have gotten out.

Today's the big day.

My body hurts from working out.

This came out today:

someone get it for me.

La Jetee is the inspiration for one of my top movies ever, 12 Monkeys. I didn't know this was coming out on DVD until I looked, just now, at IMDB. It's very expensive. But the temptation remains.

Alot of the cover art for Isis' 2000 album Celestial came from La Jetee.
More reason to watch the shit.
You can actually find it, the whole thing, on google video.

"Back on the jetty at Orly, on this hot Sunday before the war,
where he could now stay, he realized that the child he had once been must be there too, watching the planes.
But first he looked for the woman's face, at the end of the jetty.
He ran towards her.
But when he saw the man from the underground camp he realized that one cannot escape time,
and that this haunted moment, given him to see as a child,
was the moment of his own death."

-Narrator, La Jete-

Hey, I know I acknowledged here that I read and loved Mr. Chabon's "The amazing adventures of Kavalier and Clay" but I did not do justice to such a wonderful book. I think that is one of the best books I have ever read! I loved tales that deal with friendship that does not include the characters having romantic love at one time or another (that is why I also love movies and books like "About a boy", "the fortress of solitude", "Ghost world", "Jerry Maguire", "My girl", etc.), but I also loved the way it dealt with the themes of the book: Nazism and antisemitism, the beginning of the comic book as an artistic medium, censorship, growing up, dealing with your sexuality, etc. I figure you might loved this book too! smile

PS by the way, I read in Elizagirl's journal that she is reading Mr. Chabon's masterpice this week...

PS Did you read "Wonderboys"? I LOVED IT!!!
