"Thank God no one was out here," she kept saying over and over again, in spanish.
This was the cuban redhead milf that lives downstairs and to the right. The one that has the bible studies every friday night in her apartment.
I mean... yeah. Thank God, I guess.
The overhang, the ceiling, I guess it could be called, that goes in front of my apartment came down this afternoon. When I got home all the neighbors were standing out there, in front of my apartment, staring.
The whole thing had come down in front of my door.
We watched the firemen cut down all the broken down plaster wiring and molding in 100 degree weather. It took nearly three hours to have the power company cut the power in order to have the firemen be able to deal with the situation without electrocuting themselves.
I was actually on the phone with howdypardner when they showed up.
Termites and dry-rot had brought the thing down. I was sure I was going to have to move out. I was sure that the apartment would be flooded if it rained. One of the firemen, a buff, blue-eyed hispanigreek god reassured me that there's no danger in staying here.
So did the maintenance man.
So did the cop who is my landlord.
So did the contractor.
So did the association.
Now all I have to contend with is my girlfriend's angry, controlling mother, who wants us to move out of the apartment immediately.
The firemen broke down my door while I was out of the house.
The cat vomited on the bed sheets.
Life is beautiful.
"Thank God no one was out here," she said. I kind of wish I had been out there, on that top stoop I love to sit on to read, holding a cigarette and a book when the whole thing came down.

One time they put a new roof on my apartment complex and the roofers put too much weight on the roof of one of the buildings and it collapsed all the way to the first floor. The next day they came to fix the roof on my building. I made damn sure I was gone that day! lol
