It was a nice kiss, even though it was among the most pathetic moments of my adult life.
I'd drunk myself stupid, and people were leaving me. They were leaving me alone and drunk on the couch. Lonely and too drunk to make it onto the stripped bed on which the cat had peed the day before.
They were probably sad for me.
I'm more than a little embarrassed.
She set me up on the couch while her boyfriend waited outside, enjoying a smoke. She turned off as many lights as she could find light switches, she turned off the television but left the DVD player on. She took care of me because I was clearly too hammered to take care of myself.
She then said goodnight. She bent over to peck me on the cheek. In my wasted dizziness I managed to turn my head. The peck was on the lips, but she opened her mouth a little. She knew what I'd done, understood it, and rewarded me for it. For just a fraction of a second, her upper lip slid down mine. I know I felt it.
"Goodnight," she said.
"bleaarrghh" I responded.
She locked the door from the inside and was gone.

Her boyfriend looks like Jesus. It means he'd forgive me.
