I've actually been a slob for most of my life, no matter HOW many times I tried to break myself of this habbit...right up until I moved into a house with 8 fucking roommates who lived like animals! All of a sudden I became something of a clean freak!

I've since moved out of there...and I'm happy to report that some of the freak has stayed with me!

You'd THINK living in a tiny New York City apartment would have cured me of my slobiness...but it sure didn't! Yikes was THAT a mess!!!

My biggest pet peeves about roommates is when they eat my food or break my things without fessing up...which those 8 roommates did often! Real glad to be done with that!

I think my big problem with my current situation is that I'm part city girl and part redneck...so for any given time I can be happy in either place...but eventually I start itching for the other. Right now I'm fiending for the city life.
As for work...it's surprisingly difficult for me, being a chick, to get a job in the autobody industry. Working here at least for now can put something on my resume for when I go looking for work elsewhere, should it come to that. Besides, I'm sure meeting all the important people in the hotrod industry right now...so maybe I should just eat some ice cream and shut up! lol

Sometimes being anti-social is a good thing! Forces you to really hang out with yourself and sometimes, in my case anyway, learn more about yourself. I just hope you come out of it liking yourself, haha

Tell me about it: the internet has made it sooooo dificult to be a real snob, now that any jagoff 17 year old can download the whole Jansch catalogue as soon as it's namechecked on a few blogs, ya know? I hope, by the way, I'm making fun of myself, but I do honestly feel that way a little bit. Sad, really.

I agree. The seed for my half-serious complaint that the internet allows teenagers to so easily discover what was not so long ago obscure and (in many markets) unobtainable was of course my own music geek experience at that age. I read liner notes and tracked down the originals when I found out a beloved song was a cover, I read the All Music Guide, or whatever, to find out what bands certain players had been in before making it big... the stuff that two generations of high schoolers did when they became obsessed with music. Silly as it is, that was a big part of making me who am I am.

And I truly am joking when I bitch about the easy road today's kids have, because I agree with you that the overall effect cannot help but be good for the music business. For 'adults' the mainstream stuff will continue to dominate (and as you say, there's lots of good mainstream music) but the kids today have a headstart on finding new directions, new genres of music that will hopefully lead them to be more adventurous listeners and consumers in a few years.

Well said on all counts. I appreciate supporting a perrenial loser. My uni (Northwestern - you probably haven't heard of it) has the worst athletics in a conference of traditionally great athletic unis. We suck ass, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Of course university athletics is a peculiarly American thing, so I don't know if it's really comparable to premiership/first division stuff in UK.

Oh, and I'm almost with you. I was raised Catholic, and hate the Catholic church with a real passion, but since I haven't been raped by a priest, my overwhelming hatred goes to the Muslims for now. It could go either way though, depending on how the bombings/rape findings unfold in the near future.
