tonight, i finally disengaged from family gatherings to venture forth into the arms of the boys. we all converged upon brandon and kyle's place. i soon learned that deckwreck and suprpkl were going to move into the same apartment complex as b and k this january, and that mike was going to join them this summer.

this image took some time to coagulate in my mindall five of the guys living in the same apartment complex in the heart of the city. and i asked myself, "what sort of a life have you built for yourself in Portland, little Flux?"

because i could transfer to Emory, you know, or Oglethorpe, or anywhere in the place of my fomenting, and i could live in the same apartment complex as my five best friends. it would be just like high school, only we'd drink more and sing along to different songs. it would be so easy to return to Atlanta, admit defeat at the hands of grey weather, nasty food, and the social anxiety that seems to have kept me from making any friendships that could challenge the sheer epic of Team Rock and Roll Squad 2004, the guys and me. i swear, it would be a fucking sitcom, the six of us.

lord knows where i'll be in the end, but, right now, it feels damn good to be home.
