If you like science fiction writing, then Ballard is an absolute *must*.... it's actually the reason I recommended solent green.... kind of reminds me of one of his story called Millinuem [suc].... Amazing tale concerning serious overpopulation to the point of obsurdity! Seperately, for example, Ballard once wrote a novel based entirely on the concept of crashing a car at a large traffic island and become stranded before having to 'deal' with the locals who inhabited the island.... crazy stuff....
You may also had the adaptation of Ballard's famous novel 'Crash' to your list of favourite films.
It the moment, I'm reading 'Mistress Rudy ties it together'.... good if you are interested in liberating your up tight ass ;-) Recommended....
I'm disappointed you list 1984 *before* brave new world on your fav book list.... if you looked into it more closely you'd have established the fact that your order is painfully back to front!

favorite hallucinogen is definitely acid. as far as those go, i've only had mushrooms and acid. i love either. but i like to go completely out of my mind, not just a little out of my mind. and for acid, specifically timothy learys, which had some phenomenal visuals without pains and such.
