I'm not usually one for New Year's resolutions, but looking at the desolate state of this my blog, I vow to do more regular updates in 2016. I do enjoy writing down my meandering thoughts, and a blog entry every now and then is a small enough commitment. The next great Australian novel, now that would be another story...
Another thing I've vowed was to take more and get better at selfies. That was more of a mid-October resolution, but I guess it carries over into 2016. I am decidedly pro-selfie and anti selfie-shaming (which is probably not too surprising for a long-time SG member), and I think one of the best ways to express this is to take and post the occasional un-ironic selfie myself.
Fitness-wise, I want to finally manage to bench press my own bodyweight by the end of 2015. This is actually a more useful resolution than one might think, because it kind of requires me to do some serious work on my puny, crooked shoulders, which will help reduce pain and prevent injuries. I also hope to be deadlifting 150kg/330lbs by the end of the year and get out of my squat and OHP plateaus. We'll see how that goes.
I'd like to make some new offline friends this year, but I don't really know how, so I can't well make that a resolution. The main problem is that I'm super picky when it comes to whom I want to associate closely with. And I don't really meet people outside of work, so unless I go and chat up every stranger I come across, that quite severely limits my available pool of folks to potentially try to befriend. I've decided to try and be more sociable online, though.
That's pretty much it, I think. I'm sure other stuff will come up over the course of the year, as it usually does.
Have a great 2016, everyone!
